Jeff - The midnite "display" doesn't exist anymore, and it sounds like you were constantly looking for something "for free". ken
As for the original complainer's problems. You take problems of this nature to the purser while on your cruise. Had you done so, he would probably have provided you with some free laundry service. That would have taken care of your problem immediately. They would also have cautioned the folks above you not to flick ashes out off their balcony. That's definitely against Fun Ship rules and is repeatedly announced over the PA System.
As for any other complainers, I feel your pain. I cruised twice on the Pride this year (Mexican Riviera and Eastern Carribean). My grandsons had such a terrible time that the oldest said, "I feel like a king." at dinner. How awful! They both hated it so much on the Pride that they chose a Thanksgiving Cruise on the Destiny instead of spending Thanksgiving Week at a luxury resort in Kissimmee (including Disney, Universal/IOA, and maybe SeaWorld) as we usually do each November. There were only a few dozen types of pastries on the cart at Tea Time, and the tea was really hot. Our servers only put the ketchup on the kids' French Fries if they had a kids' entree at dinner two or three times. Where were they with the ketchup when the boys had veggies? One female head server actually had the nerve to cut up the boys' pancakes and French Toast at breakfast and pour their syrup on for them! What terrible service! The napkin animals they made were only as cool as the towel animals we got in our cabins. Then, Half Moon Cay was really sunny and hot, and our cabana only had 2 or 3 flavors of soda. The bar service folks only stopped by every thirty minutes or so to check if we needed anything. Plus, it was a five minute walk to the lunch pavilion. Surely, some Carnival employees should have taken us there and back in a rickshaw. Then. there was no one to fan me as I lounged in my hammock under a shade tree by our cabana. Shouldn't Carnival provide that service? This is how silly some of the complainers sound.
Myself, I don't think I'll ever cruise on the Pride again until next summer. Plus, if Rufaeldawg ever delivers the Splendor to Baltimore to trade for the Pride (don't forget my $100 and my Chocolate Melting Cake, Rufaeldawg), I probably won't ever cruise on the Pride again until January, 2011.

We love you Kalyn Padget and Rosie Unsworth (our lovely adopted daughters), Amy Barton, Melanie Therrien, TJ, and Rick! The Fun Crew puts the fun in Carnival Cruising! Thank you Butch for being a fantastic CD!
I've only been off the Holiday for a short time, and I'm already having fits of melancholy. I guess unless we can cruise every two months, I'll probably never be satisfied again.
Our 7 YO and 6 YO grandsons decided that they would prefer a Thanksgiving Cruise to Key West and Cozumel on the Destiny to Thanksgiving in Orlando/Kissimmee this November. We must be teaching them well. Thanks for an excuse for my booking another cruise, guys!

We went on two Norwegian Cruise Line Tramp Steamer Cruises - Thank goodness we were too busy on our honeymoon in 1978 to realize how crummy the cruise actually was - Then they ruined our 2007 Hawaii Cruise that was my retirement gift from my wife - Two chances is enough! - Never again!
Our current future dream cruise is 15 days back-to-back on the Freedom / 8-day Eastern (Fort Lauderdale) and the Valor / 7-day Western (Port of Miami) with a 45 minute private shuttle ride in between the two Fun Ships.
