Hi....We are from Michigan too. What part of Michigan are you from? I am hoping to book this cruise this weekend after I talk to my wife. We have never cruised before either. I will post here when we book.

We are still deciding if we want a inside or pay the extra $580 and go for a balcony, we are leaning toward the balcony room. Have you booked your air fare yet?? Are you going to fly out of Traverse City or GR?

Re: Roll call: Victory January 31, 2010 anyone else booked yet?

    Hello Michiganders.

Just wanted to talk with you about a Balcony, and to let you know a few ways to save a dollar or two. First, is the quote you were give a selected balcony or a Balcony Guarantee?  And where are you getting your quotes from Carnival web sight, your TA, or CVP?  I have learned that if I call Carnival the price is always better, than on there web sight. Second, instead of calling, I check Travelocity, for the same cruise, and Travelocity's price is only $20.00 more than the quote Carnival offers over the phone.

That's unless you are a Veteran and that price differs by $500 per Cruise sometimes.  If you are, or your significant other is a Vet, you will have to call to get a quote. But if not, like I said use Travelocity, and     - $20 and it will give a pretty close price to what Carnivals Vacation Planners quote you. TIP!!!!

I do not know if you have a quote for a selected cabin, or a BG (balcony guarantee). The reason is, sometimes you get a better price for going with a BG, than having a selected balcony.  We have done two BG, and have done two selected cabins. I do recommend them, if you do not mind what cabin you want to stay in, and carnival puts you in one.  Just for example we were on Conquest for our First Cruise and were put on Deck 10 port forward.  Than our second cruise, deck 7.

For my self, a cabin is the only way to go, but you will have to experience it on you own, but here some example of what I am talking about.  Hearing the ocean go by and night and put you to sleep.  Waking up at you next port of call, walking out in your Birthday suit, and watching the sun come up, and watching it go down.  Being able to relax outside with out taking stairs or an elevator. Only having to walk 10 feet, and relax on your private balcony sitting in a chair while you wife gets ready, changing into 5 different things before making up your mind before the elegant evening.  Than afterwards, sipping wine at night on your deck chair, and feeling the warm Caribbean air go by, knowing you're making a special moment.

We normally fly out of South Bend or Chicago.  But like South Bend a lot better do to less traffic, drive time, and smaller airport, and it only cost us about the same as or up to  $50 dollars more per person.

we haven't booked our airfare yet.  we plan on flying out of detroit, we'd rather saginaw but it's hundreds more right now, so it will probably be detroit.  i'm watching a certain flight and hope to book soon.

we booked an inside cabin.  would love a balcony but dh didn't want to spend that much.  He'd rather spend it in the casino!

We've booked an inside cabin this time...we usually always have a balcony to watch coming/going into ports however we figure at an island every day we can go up to 10th deck and watch.

Great to hear from someone else booked on this cruise.  We've got an inside cabin too.  I figured we'd be too busy to care where we are on the ship, especially with a new port every day!  Can't wait!!

Shore Excursion - St. Thomas - Mon. Feb. 1, 2010

If anyone's interested..we have booked http://www.eeetours.com/ratesroutes.html for a tour (Henry is fantastic!).  We did his Sightseeing/Beach Tour @ $25/pp in Feb. 2009 and it was fantastic!  He is a retired police officer and shows you the WHOLE island and then stops at Coki Beach for 2 hours.

This year we have booked him to go to Megan's Bay, Sapphire Beach and shopping for Feb 1st if anyone's interested in "hopping on".  Contact him at above site and let him know that you would like to go with "The Canadians" tour.

Take care!!  See you on board!

     Shore Excursion-St. thomas

We're actually thinking about booking with www.sunnylistontours.net for a shopping, sightseeing and beach tour also at $25.00 pp.  He's not accepting bookings until Nov. but said to contact him then.  I read really great things about him all over the cruise critic boards.

     Dominica-Tues. Feb 2, 2010

We have already booked www.bumpiingtours.com for the Roseau Valley Treasures tour with the Champagne reef snorkel add on.  This also had great reviews on cruise critic.com.  You are supposed to have min. 4 people for this tour, but he said that if we dont mind, he'll just put us with another group that day, that way we can still get the lower price.

If anyone else has any other excursion ideas, post them!!

Look forward to meeting everyone on board!!!

I think we're just doing a beach day at Antigua.  Either book the carnival Prickly Pear Island tour or book online (pricklypearisland.com) or perhaps just take a taxi to Runaway Beach.Paradise
