KathyB, yes you can switch to a credit card during the cruise if you run out of cash. OR you can get a cash advance from the purser's desk from your CC and use that.

LOL, I haven't been on a cruise just yet, but my very thought exactly what you say here.  I'm having a good time, I don't care how much it will cost me!

WOW!  I guess it must be a marvel that I only spent $120 on my S&S card drinks included.  Out of Puerto Rico that Duty Free shop in the terminal is AWESOME save me a boat load of money.

If you use a credit card do they give you the option to pay  cash before the card is charged

Re: ? on s&s card and using cash

Yes they do.  I always hold using my American Express and based on any money I win on baord at the Casino, I usually pay cash, the night before the final night (because the last night the line will be around the deck).  If I don't win, I just let them charge it to the credit card on file.

If you use a credit card, you won't have to put anything down.

put money on card, and expect to use most of it, the pictures get you everytime. hard to leave photos behind when they turn out so well. (expensive) Just don't be stingy with tipping, the crew works hard to make sure your cruise is great.

I totally agree with you.  The pictures are what get you.  Seems like they'd lower the price a bit especially if you purchase a few of them.

Glad I read this thread.  Answered a lot of questions for me.

One question I do have, is once we have paid the final balance on our cruise, can we pay extra money ahead of time to have an OBC?  We already plan on paying the standard gratuity amount ahead of time, I'm thinking spending $.  Thanks!

Yes you can place cash deposits on your account at anytime and they will deduct what you spend from the cash deposit.

I am a non drinker and my wife only had a couple of pay drinks.  Our balance at the end of our 5 day was $493 .  $100 of that was the tip.  $100 was cigs for a friend, a $100 in casino.  The other $193 was for a few gifts we bought on board and bingo cards.  The only other place where money changed hands was in he casino.  I put a poker entry on the sign and sail card and paid cash for some blackjack tourneys.  I lost the tourney entries since I did not win the tourney but I won enough money playing Fun21 to cover everything I spent in Casino plus what my wife did.  We did have an excursion but we prepaid it.

So we can prepay $$ to our OBC? I dnk that!

Question: do we have to use a credit card to start our S&S account? Can we prepay cash or does it have to be a cc? or can we charge to our account and pay cash when checking out? Still new at this :)) ty! ChickengirlSeattle
