    "Reasonable" amount of soda???

What is considered a reasonable amount ot bring on board? Would me and my boyfriend both be able to bring a 12 pack on board?

Then is soda available to buy while off the ship in port? We are not Coke fans, so I don't want to buy the soda card, but we can throw back the soda. (POP here in Michigan! lol..)

Has anyone bought soda in port? How much is it?

My PVP said everyone could take a 12 pack. of soda. He said I should be able to bring on my gator aid too. Don't drink much soda except in a drink.

I suffer through Coke products on board and buy Pepsi's every port call.  Tw 12 paks to start won't be bad, just heavy to carry on.

PLEASE, wrap the 12 packs in garbage bags and duct tape seal the bags befoe you put in your checked luggage.  More than once I recieved wet luggage from some one who had not packed carefully.

We brought two 12 pakes of Coke Zero,  and about the same in Water in our small portable foldable cooler. We purchased the soda the night before the cruise, and brought in on threw Checkin luggage. How much is to much, we had about 5 or 6 waters left over that we left in the Cabin. I hope my Steward used it.

Anyway, and you can bring on Coke Bottles with coke in them if you would like,

What part of Michigan are you from?

I've heard so many different things, as far as how to bring it on. Somebody even said it had to be in a suitcase to be with check luggage while boarding the ship. Did you do that or just have a luggage tag on it?

We are from Southeast! Just south of Detroit. Some people call it the "downriver area".

You can pack soda in your suitcase or carry it on. I pack 8 sodas in my suite case and carry on 8 bottles of water in a personal cooler (pack dry .. no ice). Someone posted that placing a luggage tag on a 'case' of soda did not work and they had to pack it in the suitcase and carry-on.

I have heard alot of differnt things to after hearing we are going to bring 12 pack a piece put the 16 oz bottles i was going to do the cans but looks like they would be heavier and also be able to get busted easier.  we are gong to wrap in plastic and sort them out throughout bags so wont be so heavy in one bag also carry some on in carrier on. Hope that helps I am a first time cruiser but I have taken all the good info in that got on here.

You can bring any amount you want of soda or water.  A couple of 12 packs certainely is not a lot.  We actually leave it is the 12 pack and then put it in a seperate suitcase and send it along with all or checked luggage and have NEVER had a problem.

Then is soda available to buy while off the ship in port?

Yes but I suggest that you buy it at a grocery or drug store (About the same cost as hme.) It can become pretty pricey at the terminal, like 3 buck a bottle.

    We are not Coke fans,

     Neither are we.

so I don't want to buy the soda card, but we can throw back the soda. (POP here in Michigan! lol..)

Pop to us also, originially from Indiana near the Michigan border.

Has anyone bought soda in port?

    Yes see above.

    How much is it?

About the same as home in the stores but pretty pricey at the terminal or tourist trap places.  I have seen it as high as 3 bucks a bottle.

We too do not like coke

    larry,

do they scan the checked bags for the amount of water or soda you bring? How about gator aid or something similar?

We are from the Whiting, Hammond, Munster area.  Brother in law lives in Chesterton and Sister in law lives in Crown Point.

We now live in Jacksonville, FL 20 minutes from a cruise port and driving distance to 4 or 5 others, No snow, No ice and cold is anything below 50 degrees.

Guess it depends on how much you drink, I only drink one coke a day so I buy the 8oz six packs and that works for me. I put it it a ziplock bag then in my suitcase.

Soda on the ship is $2.25 per can. Or like $1.75 per glass. If you love soda it would be wise to buy the small bottles because I don't think they allow cans. A twelve pack seems reasonable keeping in mind that wherever you dock they will have soda to buy it just will be more expensive. But you don't want to weigh your luggage down with soda. It's amazing I thought I was a coke-aholic but when I saw the price I switched quickly to lemonade, which is free.
