Tiff, there are soo many places to go and have a wonderful local meal while in the city. A couple of my favorites are the Gumbo Shop, Pontalba Cafe, Clover Grill, Port of Call, Gordon Birsch and Johnny's Po-Boys. Oh, the Louisiana Pizza Kitchen as well. It really depends on what you want to spend on meals because some can be pricey. The clover grill is on Bourbon Street in the "rainbow" section and is an open grill style cafe that makes awesome hamburgers. Not a lot of seating, though. Johnny's is only open for breakfast and lunch, but closes around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. My wife and I have this running list in our head of places we want to go and eat, but never remember what or where they are until it's too late.
The Aquarium is a must see and unfortunately, I am not that impressed with the insectarium. My kids love it, I just think it is a bit over priced as far as admissions go. The Audubon Zoo is also a wonderful attraction and is definitely worth the cost of admission. It is one of the best zoos around the country and probably the world for that matter.
I am thinking after muster would be the best time, since we are not sure what time it will actually be and it will give people who want to meet time to get to their cabins, etc. Since we have little ones, they will be with us at that time, but there are lounge chairs they can hang around while we meet and hang out.
