Re: Roll Call Liberty Nov 14-21... anybody on this cruise?

Hey everybody!   I am another one of those people who have been following this thread for a long time but have not talked very much.  I am getting very pumped...actually right now my wife and I are going through our clothes deciding what to take and what not to.  I seem to have found a drawback on crusing.....the amount of clothes you need.   You need something to wear on excursions possibly something to wear when you get back and then something for dinner.  To the guys out there that are going,,.,,,,are you taking a suit and if so are you taking a suit suitcase or just packing it in your normal bag?  Another question...did anyone else get a courtesy call from carnival last week?  The called just to see if I have any questions.  I asked what I should bring that I had not thought of...her advice was an alarm clock since the rooms do not have one.  She also said that there are not irons in the rooms and that you need to use the ones in the laundry room.  Can anyone verfy this?  Needless to say.,,I am a first time cruiser.  (have booked 3 but had to cancel 2 Sad )  Our group has increased as well so we are now up to 16 friends going with us :).  Not sure what people are doing for excursions but here is a run down of ours:  In Half Moon Cay - Parasailing, San Juan - Canopy Tour/zipline, and St Thoms Christmas Cove Snorkel.   I do not have anything planned for Gran Turks and that has me a little worried.  Has anyone been there before?  According to their website the island is only 1 mile wide by 6 miles long  and after looking at it on google earth it looks like there is only a lighthouse and a margaritaville to check out.  :)

Hello Lovins!  Long time no talk.  Yes it is getting very close now.  We are going through our summer clothes and deciding what to take.  I do not over pack.  I take clothes for the excursions, and something to wear at night, but on the days at sea, I am usually in a bathing suit and cover up.  My DH is taking a suit.  He will take 2 dress shirts and two ties and wear the suit for both formal nights.  We just put the suit in a plastic bag and put it in the suitcase.  Then if it gets wrinkled we just steam it in the bathroom, when we get there.  It has always worked for us.

I did not get a courtesy call from Carnival.  You must be special - LOL.  I knew that there are not irons in the rooms.  It is a fire hazard.  I will tell you that the afternoon/evening of the formal night, the lines to use the irons is very long.  I usual get all mine done the first night.  Everyone is out and about and I get all mine done and then go out.  That way I am done for the week.  The clock is a great idea, and we bring a travel one.  It works out well.

The only excursions that we have booked so far is horsebacking riding in HMC and Dune Buggys in Grand Turk.  We will just walk around San Juan, we have been there before and I am still trying to book a private taxi/tour for the 4 of us.  We don't want to be at the beach for hours, we want to see as much of the island as we can and then get back to port or town and hang out.  I need to get moving on that one.

One thing that I am bringing is a power strip.  I understand that there is only one outlet in the entire room.  This way I will be able to charge our cameras etc at the same time.

Can't wait to meet you guys.  I think that Mojo is planning a meet and greet at the piano bar, but we still need to get the day and time.

    Pat,

the clock is ticking fast and I can't wait.  I am so ready for this.  I was looking into the Sonny Liston tour as well but I did not want to be at a beach for 2 hours.  I want to see as much of the island as we can, so I have to work on getting a private taxi/tour organized.  I got a few leads, but I need to get busy and plan it out.  I'm just so excited that I can scream everytime that I think about it.

Can't wait to meet you guys.  Let the clock roll on down!!!

Hello all fellow Liberty Nov 14 cruisers. My wife and I, and my sister and her DH are ecstatic about our cruise. This is our second cruise, Sis and her DH are cruise virgins. We have booked the  morningHorseback riding excursion on Half Moon Cay? Anyone else going? Since Half Moon Cay is a tendered cruise port, I have heard that there is a long wait to get ashore, does anyone know if the booked tour people get priority?

    JY

Hey fellow cruiser!  20 days til boarding.  We are also doing horseback riding in HMC.  I have to check and see what time.  I know that it is in the morning, but not sure what time.  I'm sure that they will get us off on time, as we booked the excursion through them.  They would lose money if we missed the excursion.  We also booked Dune Buggy's in Grand turk.

Can't wait to meet you guys.  Keep that clock rolling!

    Hello Deb:

My wife and I are booked at10:15 AM for the horseback riding. She can't wait. This one of those dream excursions on her "to do list". We are staying in Miami Beach for two nights prior, and in Holywoood Beach for one night after. We have never been to the Miami/FLL area, but we hear it's a lot of fun. Also looking forward to meeting new people onboard. Can't wait!!

Re: Roll Call Liberty Nov 14-21... anybody on this cruise?

Goodmorning BFF... The night is going rather slow right now, but in 4 hrs, I will be out of here lol. Still not completely packed, but I hope by the end of the week that will change.. Im getting better @ this thing by not overdoing things.. I know the main climate will be warm, so plenty of shorts are coming along with me.. I might do the same as Harry and only bring 1 suit.. I don't need 2, and I can bring along a few shirts... Luggage has to be lightened up you know.. lol. Im wondering what time does everyone do dinner? Im set for the late dinning @ 8:15pm... Im trying to see if everyone could meet up at the Piano Bar @ 5ish? I don't want the people who have early dining to have to rush, so if you find a better time for us all to meet up, im down for it.. smiles.. Very easy going here...

Hello BFF.  Happy Monday.  I wish I could say TGIF but I will have to wait for a few days for that.

We have early dinner.  So that is what around 6?  The crew that I am with did not want to wait til 8ish to eat.  Did you want to meet on the first night?  If that is the case, I think that we will be Ok for 5ish.  I know that we will be going to dinner in the clothes that we are wearing when we board that night.  Too much trouble to try and get unpacked right after we sail off.  Let me know what your thoughts are, or we could meet at 10pm after you guys get done dinner.  Either way will work for me.  I'm easy going too.

Haven't even gotten the suitcases out yet.  I spent most of the weekend packing up the summer place and then unpacking it when I got home, but the GREAT news is that we will do all the final preparation this saturday and then we will be done.  I talked Harry into it saying that we needed to spend the weekend before we leave getting ready for the cruise and he agreed.  YEAH!!  I feel so much better with that pressure off.  I have been putting stuff in the spare bedroom that I want to take, now I have to go through and sort it out.  At least it is a start.

My heart is racing just thinking about it.  I'm ready BFF.  Let the time fly.

Hello JY!  We are booked for horsebacking riding at 10:30.  I couldn't remember the time so I had to go and look it up.  We are excited as well.  DH will not be riding with us, just the girls!  I can not wait, it will be lots of fun.  We are going down a day early and staying another night afterwards.  I wanted to go down a day before just incase the air lines ran late - I did not want to be stressing!  The night after was because AirTran cancelled our flight and wanted us to take an 8:30 flight out.  Since we will not even be docked by then, that was going to be a little hard to do, so we are staying over at a hotel at the airport with an early flight out on Sunday.  I just want to be on vacation and get on that ship!

Re: Roll Call Liberty Nov 14-21... anybody on this cruise?

Goodmorning to you BFF.... Now thinking about it, I think maybe we should hold the Meet and greet on our first day at sea which is on Monday Nov 16th so that we aren't all rushing to meet up with one another.. I don't want anyone to have to rush to dinner. Do you think this would be alright? I know my friend Kermit will be very excited and he will want to check out the ship and all the hangout spots...

Im glad that you and the DH ended up making this weekend the final weekend @ the summer home. Sounds like the icing on the cake to me... No need to rush now... I wanna go and get a few more things this week for the cruise then I will be set. I need to get past this week and see Nov 1st. Once this happens I will officially hit vacation mode.. lol.  You are right, let the time fly.

Here are a few more tips I found useful too.  If you have a plastic shoe holder that goes on the back of a door, this is very helpful.  You can put toiletries in the top pocket, like a brush, lotion etc. It helps with the clutter in the bathroom.  Then you can put your shoes in the rest of the holes to have more space in room.  If you are taveling with little ones, you can out their toys or crayons in the bottom pockets too.  Also, bringing a baby pool (little blowup) is very nice so the little one can splash and play.  Most cruise lines will not allow swim diapers so this is a nice way for the little one to cool off. If you are not bringing an alarm clock, set your TV to the channel that views the outside of the ship on the Lido deck 24/7.  When the sun rises on the Lido deck it will rise in your room too so you know it's morning time and don't sleep all day.  Take your own medicine boat med's are pricey and if it gets a little bumpy at sea the ship will sell completley out of sea sick med's.  So stock up.
