Kayetta:
This will be my 3rd cruise, my husbands 2nd and the 1st for our three kids. We also have a Matthew (9 yrs. old) .another son who is 15 and a daughter who is 12.
How are you going to keep up with your youngest son on this cruise ? I don't know how much freedom to give them. How safe they will be. That is my only concern.
They are actually my nephews - ages 12 and 8.
Kids under 12 (or it might be 12 and under) have to wear these wrist bands which identify their muster station the entire cruise. On our December cruise, my boyfriends son (who was 10 at the time) was given a paper-y one. But we noticed that most other kids had these really nice plastic ones that looked a whole lot more comfortable. I was told they got them from being registered for Camp Carnival (which we didn't do for him). So we have pre-registered both boys for Camp Carnival/CircleC - not sure if this will get them the better wrist band, but hopefully it will.
My sister isn't too keen on giving either of them too much freedom - and my mother is having panic attacks thinking that they are going to climb up on the railings and fall overboard. The younger one will probably not be permitted to wander off on his own at all, but I think they will be allowed to go together to places. (maybe go to the water slide on their own, down to the game room, etc.) I'm sure that it will be very limited - like "okay, you can go to the room and get XXXX, but come right back here."
The younger one asked if he would meet kids he didn't know - he's really hoping to make a new friend or two. II think he will want to do a lot of the Camp Carnival activities. The older one is less inclined to hang out with people he doesn't know, so I'm not too sure how much time he will spend with CircleC, but I'm hoping he wants to enjoy some of the evening activities they have planned.
They are both SOOO excited, and "thankfully" the 12 year old already had H1N1 and is back in school and his brother did not get it from him (which has to be a good sign!) so I think we are in the clear!
