Going out for our second cruse in May. Went on the Legand last year and are looking forward to seeing the Glory.  Anyone else going????

Hi Joe....Was booked on the Liberty sailing 5/23/09, but today changed the booking to the Glory instead.  So, now that I have replied to your Roll Call, now I hope more people with join with us.  Hopefully, if enough people sign in to this, maybe we can meet while on our cruise.  Does that seem like a good idea to you?  Oh, I sailed on the Glory back in January this year and enjoyed the ship....was a Western Caribbean cruise and really liked it.  I will be a solo cruiser for the first time as my daughter decided she didn't want to join me.  This will be my 8th cruise, all on Carnival.  I also seem to be hooked on this type of vacation.

Just booked my third cruise with Carnival Glory on May 23rd. I've never been to the Eastern Caribbean - lookking forward to it.  I haven't been on a cruise since 1996 - Carnival Sensation and 1995 on Carnival Fantasy.  My husband and I are taking our 9 year old son. 

Hi Ibaxter,  Finally some others who are going on this cruise.  This will be my 4th Eastern Caribbean cruise with this itenerary....I must like it cause I just can't wait to get on the ship.  I was on the Glory this Jan going to Western Caribbean and that is also nice, but for me, there's just something about St Thomas/St John.  Some of the beaches are just beautiful, especially those on St John.  I live in Schaumburg, IL....suburb of Chicago...how about you, where are you guys from ?  Look forward to meeting you while on our cruise.

I've heard they are beautifu...and I've been searching the web alot for photos.  Oh my...you live where it's really cold.  We live just west of Atlanta, GA.  Although we really haven't had snow/ice - it's been the coldest winter since sometime in the 90's. It's been raining here for 2 days and now they are calling for snow by in the  morning.  

 The countdown is on...only 84 more days..........do you recommend any shore excursions?  Looking for a great place to take my son snorkeling. 

Have you looked on Google for different locations on St Thomas/St John and St Maarten?  All sorts of really good info and many of the accessible sites do have photo's and some even have reviews from people who have visited them.  I have been reading up on St Thomas and Coki Beach seems as though the snorkeling may be pretty good.  Meagan's Bay, while while really pretty, is usually packed with people and I have read the snorkeling not so good.  St Johns...Trunk Bay has an underwater sort if hiking trail.  Where ever you snorkel, you must bring along at least 1 disposable underwater camera, unless you already have a camera that is capable of your taking in the water.  I have used these camerea before and they are pretty good.  Of course any underwater photo depends on what u see and the clarity of the water.  Water clarity in St John is usually pretty good.  Haven't snorkeled much in St Thomas though. 

I am flying down on Friday May 22 and plan on staying at a hotel near the Orlando Int'l Airport and then take the bus shuttle back and forth that I can purchase thru Carnival.  This shuttle is $35per person, so for only me its not bad.  I am staying in cabin#6270 on the Upper Deck, how about you guys. 

I know you guys are looking forward to this cruise, and especially your son.....me too, especially cause for me cruises are so relaxing and just fun.  I may be 57, will turn 58 while on this cruise, but that doesn't stop me from being able to have FUN.  You know, while we are adults and parents, SOMETIMES its ok to act a little goofy. 

 Well, I have probably made you wonder....'will this guy ever stop writing'?  Yep, guess now I will.

We are in Cat. 4F #8403.  I'm so excited.  I have googled it and went to tripadvisor as as well.  I love reading about the islands.  I did read about St. John....I'm hoping we make a trip over to there for snorkeling.  Have you signed up for any excursions?

 So far haven't booked any excursions, but really am thinking about taking the excursion over to St John where we visit Trunk Bay.  Never been to Trunk Bay but first 2 cruises did visit Cinnamon Bay....its literally the next Bay over....if u check out a map of St John, Cinnamon Bay is immediately to the right of Trunk Bay.  If Trunk Bay is anything like Cinnamon Bay, it is absolutely beautiful.  The entire area is simply 'out of this world'!  This is something you should really consider.  Actually, I have also thought about taking the cable car up the side of the 700' mountain thats located right almost next to the pier.  In Nassau most likely I won't sign up for an excursion, while I will do an excursion in St Martin.  The airport borders the beach at Maho Beach and people like to stand on the beach and watch the planes approach from over the water ....gotta be really loud tho.  People also watch the aircraft take-off and they get blown about by the sand that gets blown up by the engines.  I have always preferred to snorkel...I am really good at it...not really but I do enjoy it.  There to have fun, not try to do things perfectly....am sure you know what I mean by that.

I'm pretty sure we will go to Trunk Bay - don't think we will sign up for a tour in Nassau.  Probably just take a cab to paradise island instead of doing the Atlantis tour.  I did see a tour that is called Powerboat Adventures - looks pretty cool and I've read alot of good reviews but it's $199 pp (WOW).  So don't think we will be doing that one.  I think we may do our own thing in St. Maarten's too.  We may just find a beach that my son can snorkel at (calm waters).  I love to snorkel but I can't go very deep (hurts my ears).  My son loves it.  We usually go to Panama City Beach, Fl every summer - rent a pontoon boat and go out to the sand bars and let him snorkel - we find lots of sand dollars and starfish - last year we even found a horseshoe crab...it was cool.  He will snorkel all day if we let him. 

My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and my b-day at Runaway Bay, Jamaica in June........my son is ill that he is not going with us, but they don't allow anyone under 14 on resort (and my in-laws gave us this trip as a gift).  So we decided to take him on this cruise - maybe he is just a little spoiled Lol.

I heard that they stopped doing the Gala Midnight Buffet....do you know if this is true?

Yes, unfortunately it is true.  When I sailed on the Glory back in January 2009 much to my surprise, yep, NO Midnight Buffet.  Kind of disappointed, especially so because I really liked to take photo's of it......the displays were really great.

Well crude...I got out my photo albums and showed my son pictures of the big buffet with all the cool ice sculptures, now I have to tell him that don't do it anymore.  So do they have the chocolate buffet?

Yes only 81 more days.  Looking forward to the relaxation.  This will be our second cruse.  Took my wife 20 years to talk me into one.   HAs anyone else sailed on the Glory?   I hear is is really nice, except for the midnight buffett.  Bummer.
