Hi, My husband and I are going on the Fascination out of Jax in January. We purchased air thru Carnival, and they gave us a pretty crappy flight home (and on the way to the cruise).  Our flight leaves at 4:45 to go to Philadelphia (with a transfer in Atlanta).  Is there anything near the Jax airport that we could do to kill some time, instead of hanging out in the airport all day?  Also, what would we do about luggage if we were to do something outside of the airport?  Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

There really isn't anything close to the airport to do. The road pretty much dead ends at the airport and the only thing close to it is hotels, restaurants, gas stations and rental cars.

Sounds like you may be pretty familiar with the Jacksonville area??  If so, I am trying to locate a hotel in a "decent/safe" area for one day/night before we take our cruise.  Where ever we stay, I was kind of hoping that there were things to do within walking distance, since we will be flying in and won't have our own transportation.  Any advise?

If you want a hotel with something to do by it the beaches is the first thing that comes to mind. Lots of hotels and restaurants and clubs if that's your style. I don't know if any of the beach hotels have transportation to and from the hotel. The beach isn't that close to the port either. It would be about 30-45 minute drive if not more. It really sucks because the airport and port area is REALLY commercial.

You could stay on Merrill Road in a hotel. Merrill Road off of 9A. There's stores there... Wally world, Bealls, AC Moore, and a few restaurants. They may have shuttle's. Try going to Hotel . com and put in Merrill Road Jacksonville FL and it will pop a few up. There will be a map and you can see 9A. 9A North takes you right to the port.

steph your reply helped me!  I will look at merrill road on mapquest.  Is that near the beach at all?  do you happen to know if the budweiser brewery is near anything ?
