Yes the Bahamas are definitely beautiful.....  some of the nicest beaches I've seen!!

Tourist areas recover from hurricanes very quickly..... if a country relies on tourism, they do their very best to recover quickly.

We sailed to the Bahamas last October... the sea was very smooth. I think you'll have a great cruise!!

Just returned from Port Canaveral to Freeport and Nassau on October 2!!   It was absolutely wonderful!!!  As someone told us on the cruise (sorry, can't remember who) Nassau is pretty well blocked all around by smaller Bahama Islands that usually break the brunt of the hurricane.  At Freeport, we spent the day at the beach across from Port Lucaya and enjoyed it just as well.  No real issues with rough waters, but they were a bit rocky on sail day - Sunday, September 28.  Several people commented they couldn't eat dinner as they were not feeling the best.  However, I have felt a lot worse movement on a ship, and I didn't see them putting out the customary barf bags like I have before.  ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!
