Room Service Any Good?

    Room Service Any Good?

Although I have not intention of sitting in my room and ordering room service the entire cruise, I am interested in knowing whether the service is good or bad and how long it usually takes to get food delivered since it is 24 hour service (i.e. if hubby and I are up at 1:00am watching a movie and want some snacks in our room)?

I'vwe enjoyed the room service food....and its perfect for those late night snacks.

They always seem to quote "30-45 mins" but arrive in 15-20 mins it seems. You can get the dessert of the day, sandwiches, cookies, etc.

I agree...I have used room service , but usually late in the am...1-3am...like after(watching a movie)...yea right...it does seem to get there fairly quick...we have ordered desserts, or BLT, cookies....ice tea, etc...or pre-ordered morning breakfast to have on the balcony at a certain time...not wanting to go down to breakfast...and got it 20 min or so...some thinge are good....ruben sandwich was good...BLT, turkey sandwich to name a few...

Yes room service is excellent.... I was astounded it was free!!!

The food is always fresh.... coffee is much nicer than Lido deck coffee.... and yes, they bring it 24/7 ..... and all for the price of a tip !!!!!

Yes, it is great.  We like to get a snack after our excursion (if there was no lunch) to tide us to dinner...... it usually is 20-30 at that time because I think they may be busier then.... Be sure to tip them as the room service is NOT built into your daily tip....

    Very -worth-it!

OK, time for my standard "room service coffee" warning!!  If you order coffee from room service and you take cream with it, be careful!!  I ordered room service breakfast once and since I use cream, I asked for "around 10 creamers" thinking that they would be the little peel and pour kind.  Imagine my surprise when the room service guy showed up with 3 trays of little cream pitchers (about the size of a large shot glass!) - boy did I have PLENTY of cream that morning!!  The poor guy must have thought I was nuts!!  Rest assured, he got a HUGE tip for that!!

I used room service once on the last cruise and it was very good. I am a BLT addict and was pleased to see they had it. Now for my question...what is a customary tip to give for room service. I'm a server and have a tendancy to WAY overtip on everything because of it. Just wondering what everyone else usually gives so I can get a base idea.

I believe $1 or $2 is customary for room service.  That is what I usually tip, depending on how long it takes to get it.

I am with Ramona....about $1-2. We ususally end up giving $2 as our breakfast orders especially are quite heavy!

There is nothing better than a late night snack of cookies and brownies delivered to your room after a wonderful day at sea!!!!

I must say that I was disappointed with the room service breakfast.  They were always way early and the milk was always very warm.  Everything else on the ship was great though!

I ordered room service on my cruise.  It was mid-afternoon, after lunch, before dinner on a sea day.  I ordered the Rueben and some cookies.  It was delicious!  However, it did take 90 minutes to get there.  That was okay because we just hung out on the balcony until it came.

We have ordered room service before going off ship for excursions.  We'll order a sandwich and chips, put them in ziplocks (don't forget to bring them along....multiple uses!) and take them on shore with us.  Comes in handy for a snack if you don't want to buy a meal right away.
