    Dunn's River Falls Physically Challenging?

We are going to Jamaica next week and are trying to decide what to do. We have a big group that includes two 70+ folks that are in good health, but we wanted to know what we were getting into at Dunn's River Falls. Any ideas as far as how physically challenging it is?

My husband and I just got back from our cruise including a stop in Ocho Rios and we did the Dunn's River Falls climb.  We are not in the best physical shape but we are not elderly either (34 and 40 yrs old).  I would say go for it, there are exits along the way up the falls for those feeling unable to continue. When we went there were people of all ages doing the climb.  The guides are amazing and they are very quick to spot those needing help.  They know the falls like the back of their hands and will tell you where to place your feet so that you don't have any surprises.  The rocks are not slippery (the water is so clean it does not allow any moss to grow on the rocks).

I must admit we were sore the next day, the same way you would be if you went on a long hike for the first time in a long time but it was a good sore because it reminded us of what we had accomplished.

If you have any questions feel free to let me know...

My DH & I are going on the Triumph on Nov 30th. Our itinerary has been reversed meaning we had to cancel all our excursions. We can't rebook over the net. CC is saying we have to book on the cruise. What are the odds that we can rebook the same tours. We are from Australia and we booked our tours in May so we were really looking forward to them. Just a bit PO that we will have to contend with a lot of other PO people for these tours. Dunns river falls was the one I really wanted to do.  I did book and independent tour but chickened out "worried I would miss the ship" I know that sounds lame but I am the worrier in this family. Are we better sticking with CC tours. You bet Dunn's Falls is Challenging. I am 57 and my husband 60 and we made it..so much fun! We did go on a tour we booked from our cabin on board through carninval. We went to a garden and shopping and the falls. It was very nice day. Don't miss the falls if you don't mind the climb!

We were just there last week and climbed the falls!  It was so much fun but also alot of work.  My husband and I are around 50. You have to "feel" your way because some places are deeper than others.  It says on the sign there that there are stairs going up the side for anyone who doesn't want to climb the falls - I would think that may be a better option for them.

Well we just got back from our cruise.  You were right about Dunns Falls! My parents opted to not try it and just watch from the side. There were some pretty hairy spots that I was sure glad they werent there to try! We did have so much fun though. Thanks for the input!
