Bayport cruise terminal from local hotels, HELP!!!!!

Does anyone know if it is difficult to get from local hotels to the cruise terminal? I have booked a room in La Porte but not sure how to get transportation to the terminal or if transportation is available. I also have booked at the Hilton near the Hobby Airport. Not sure if it would be easier to leave from that hotel or the one near the cruise terminal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What is the best time to arrive at the cruise terminal?

Go to www.bayportcruise.com and perhaps that will help you decide. They do have shuttles to the new terminal from Hobby airport, but I don't know if any of the hotels are running shuttles. You can always call the hotels and ask them.  Happy cruising!  Jill

    Cakes,

We are staying in LaPorte too, but are driving.  When doing a map of a route, it appears easy enough.  On the Carnival website Bayport Terminal has a list of phone numbers for taxis as far as rates are, etc.  It's only about 5 miles from LaPorte, but don't know if they have taxis, etc.  I haven't seen any hotels yet, that are offering shuttles to the terminal.  Since this is a temporary situation most may not even start doing it.  As far as what time to arrive, it seems that yesterday, the Ecstacy had a delayed boarding, so by the 19th?  Or it may be better.  It's a challenge trying to figure out all of the details of this "Ike inconvenience"!!

My husband and I will be driving in from Austin the day before our cruise departs and will stay in Seabrook.  I have family in the area but we have reserved a hotel for the evening.  It is about 7 miles from my hotel to the cruise port.

    Good luck!

My husband and I are staying in Seabrook also at the Holiday Inn Express.  It was the only hotel close by that had reasonable prices and minimal damage from Ike.  They will arrange transportation to the pier if you ask them to.

When are ya'll sailing out?  We are leaving Sunday on Conquest and we are having to stay by Houston Hobby because we can't find any rooms closer.

So they will arrange transport?  Do you leave your car at the hotel then??  That sounds like a good idea...you should let me know how that works since you go on your cruise before I do.

    juliemarissa,

I called the hotel, as this would be simpler for my DH and I with us both being handicapped.  The young lady said that when you check in, they give you the number of the transportation arrangements, and then you call and arrange pick up time etc.  It is $15/person each way.  They allow free parking at the hotel.  Hope this helps.

Thank you so much!!  How kind of you.  If I remember you had mentioned in an ealier post that you were staying in La Porte...are you changing?  The person I spoke with assured me the hotel was up and running with no problems.  Its looks like we'll be on the same cruise...hope to say hello at some point!!  Big Smile

What does DH mean?  I've been trying to figure it out for about two hours now!!

    juliemarissa,

You are right, we had booked at Comfort Suites in La Porte.  I have booked the Holiday Inn too.  The shuttle to the ship means a lot to us as DH (dear husband) is 80 and is on oxygen, and walking great distances are a problem for him. It takes me a while but I move around with a cane.  For couples the price is right in that parking would be $70 for the week, and the shuttle is $60.  This Ike thing is getting us all to know a little about each other before the cruise.  Unless they changed hotels, like I have, there are two other couples that we have corresponded with that are staying at the Holiday Inn too.  If we don't see you at the hotel, we'll see you on board.

Try comfort suites they have about 10 room available and the hotel is about 5-6 miles from the port. I looked at the available rooms a few min. ago. Good luck!!!!!

I called the taxi company today, stated the ride to the port is about 7 dollars per person for 4 passengers. The ride from Hobby airport to the hotel is a flat 32 dollars.

Hello, I will be staying at La Porte Comfort Suites, I think, I have another reservation near Hobby Airport. What shuttle are you using that cost 60 dollars? I noticed today that all the shuttle and cab prices are rising.  The super shuttle price went from 25 dollars the first passenger and 7 dollar for each additional to now 40 dollars the first passenger  and 10 dollars for each additional passenger (wow) in one week. Not sure if it's best to leave from Hobby Airport and pay the 60-75 dollars or to pay to go from Hobby Airport to La Porte and then pay again to go to the port. Decisions, Decisions.

I just called Comfort Inn in La Porte and no rooms are available for the 11th.  Also called the La Quinta in Webster, no rooms.  This is frustrating!
