    Hi!

We are in cabin 7271 starboard Varandah.

Looks like we might get some rain in Puerto Vallarta - according to the 10 day forecast.  Hoping for great weather.  Our days in Cabo and Mazatlan so far look like they will be sunny and HOT!

Are you going out on the Pride on the 5th as well?

We sailed on the Pride back in 07 and we had a ext. balcony stateroom # 5268 off the rear of the ship, we looked one way we saw land the other we saw sea(that will get you tongue tighted)As a matter of fact we enjoyed it so much we are going on the Splender in 09 and have a mini suite # 6450 and it is off the back corner on the ship with a wrap a round balcony.

Re: What's better port or starboard side?

You are in a great location, between the mid ship and aft elevators.  The aft elevators will take you straight up to the Lido buffet or straight down to the main dining room.  We get the extended balconies which are are closer to the aft elevators.

The Taj Majal theater is all the way forward, shops and casino are mid ship.  Be sure to go up / down on the spiral staircases at the entrance of the Taj Majal and Butterflies Lounge to see the incredible display of butterflies.  Also, don't miss a walk through the Sunset Garden at the front of the ship on the Atlantic deck.  Another thing that is nice is you can walk almost all the way around the ship on the outer Atlantic deck (called the exterior promenade) - it is covered and great for us because my husband cannot stay out in the sun; we do about 6 laps in the morning.

We sail out of Long Beach on October 26.  We love cruising in the rain!

    Have fun!

Re: What's better port or starboard side?

Thanks for the reassurance on our cabin location and all of the great tips about the ship.  This is our first time on the Pride.  We actually haven't cruised for about 5-6 years, but have cruised many times before that.  I love the sun and get a little depressed with bad weather on vacation.  But, I don't think we should hit any terrible weather and a little rain to break up the heat in the day isn't so bad.  I spent almost a week in Barbados once and it rained the ENTIRE time.  Now that was not fun!

The extended balconies look wonderful.  I hear our cruise is pretty booked, so upgrade is probably out of the question.  We will have to check that option out for our next cruise.

Re: What's better port or starboard side?

The extended balconies are about 50% larger than the regular ones and they are deeper.  Keep checking with Carnival up until the day of the cruise - you never know what might open up.
