We had ashes from the fires all over everything here also and we are at the opposite end of the valley.
For PV, the Mismaloya City Tour is a good one - it takes you into town and also south of town. The Tropical Jungle Paradise tour is good - it takes you south of PV and literally into the jungle. The Tequila Factories & Old Town tour has been recommended to us by several people, but we have not yet taken it. The ship is in port until 10pm so you will have a lot of time to see PV. There are great places to go on your own. We usually take a cab from the ship and get dropped off at the edge of town, then we walk from one end of town to the other and back. We go down the stairs to the Rio Cuale and walk from one end to the other. If we eat in town, we usually have lunch at Le Gourmet which is at street level next to the river. There are lots of great restaurants and shops in town. Let me know if you want the names of the restaurants.
Mazatlan is our least favorite place, so we usually get off the ship and walk around the port for a while. The port is like a fortress, and we rarely venture out. I would recommend the Mexican Show, Sightseeing & Shopping tour.
The Cabo Land & Sea tour sounds good. We have never been on a tour in Cabo. We usually get off the tender and walk from one end of town to the other, through downtown, then stop at Senor Sweets (in the Puerto Paraiso Mall) for a gelato, then walk all the way back along the marina boardway. There are lots of really nice shops in Cabo. Senor Sweets will be closed until around November 1 as they are moving to another location in the mall, next to the Harley shop and across from Ruth's Chris Steak House.
