How far is the Super Wal-Mart

I was wondering if someone can walk to the Super Wal-Mart in PV or is there another way to get there.  I have seen pictures that is it close, but I have a problem walking any distance and I am trying to find out how far it is.

Re: How far is the Super Wal-Mart

Wal Mart and Sam's are across the highway and walking distance from the ship.  Costco is a cab ride away in Cabo - you can see it from the ship.  It must be the only ocean front (almost) Costco in the world.  Burger Kings are in PV and Cabo...

However, I have the same question as rwilymz...  And I want to know what the attraction is - yours is not the first post asking about Wal Mart in PV!!! Smile

I was just wondering because a friend told me about it and said that they have covered parking there for the customers.  I do not plan to waste my time in PV going to Wal-Mart when I can go here.  I just wanted to verify the coverd parking since they do not do that in this country, I told her that I would have to see that for myself.   To me all Wal-Marts are the same.

If there is any, I will take a picture and post it on this thread.

    Kathy

P.S.  The reason is I am doing this is a friend of mine is the manager of our Wal Mart store and she said that if I could bring her back a picture to prove that Wal-Mart had covered parking there, she was going to do it for our Wal-Mart up here.

I always check out the local supermarkets and walmarts. Great place to buy things you didnt bring or forgot to bring.  I also have bought souvenirs much cheaper.  Plus, it is fun to browse in markets in another country. Big Smile

We are in Chatsworth.  Leaving on Nov. l6th for PV, Mazatlan and Cabo.  First time to these ports.  Any suggestions for excursions on land rather than in water or flying over the trees?Smile

Re: How far is the Super Wal-Mart

Hope you were OK during the fires.  My friend had to evacuate 126 horses this week and watch her hay burn up.

There are some great excursions on land.  What type of excursion are you looking for?  We have taken several.

Re: How far is the Super Wal-Mart

We were not in fire danger except for falling ashes. Thank you for asking.

We are interested in the history of the area and natural scenery although we do enjoy eating in local restaurants and some shopping.  Like to go off on our own but not sure if that is a good idea in ports.  In Cabo we thought about doing a land and sea tour.  In Mazatlan, the lighthouse looked interesting, as well as the central market.  No decision in Puerto Vallarta as there seems so much to do.  I see you are going on Oct 26th.  Have a great time.

Re: How far is the Super Wal-Mart

We had ashes from the fires all over everything here also and we are at the opposite end of the valley.

For PV, the Mismaloya City Tour is a good one - it takes you into town and also south of town.  The Tropical Jungle Paradise tour is good - it takes you south of PV and literally into the jungle.  The Tequila Factories & Old Town tour has been recommended to us by several people, but we have not yet taken it.  The ship is in port until 10pm so you will have a lot of time to see PV.  There are great places to go on your own.  We usually take a cab from the ship and get dropped off at the edge of town, then we walk from one end of town to the other and back.  We go down the stairs to the Rio Cuale and walk from one end to the other.  If we eat in town, we usually have lunch at Le Gourmet which is at street level next to the river.  There are lots of great restaurants and shops in town.  Let me know if you want the names of the restaurants.

Mazatlan is our least favorite place, so we usually get off the ship and walk around the port for a while.  The port is like a fortress, and we rarely venture out.  I would recommend the Mexican Show, Sightseeing & Shopping tour.

The Cabo Land & Sea tour sounds good.  We have never been on a tour in Cabo.  We usually get off the tender and walk from one end of town to the other, through downtown, then stop at Senor Sweets (in the Puerto Paraiso Mall) for a gelato, then walk all the way back along the marina boardway.  There are lots of really nice shops in Cabo.  Senor Sweets will be closed until around November 1 as they are moving to another location in the mall, next to the Harley shop and across from Ruth's Chris Steak House.
