    ms_lisa71:
are reservations before we board required or requested?

The steakhouse does tend to fill up fast so if I was you I would just pick a night and reserve it online...you can always cancel if it is not good for you.

    ms_lisa71:
I have been told by 3 others the most effective treatment they know of is the bracelets - do you have an y recommendations?

I have heard the bracelets are good, I have never needed them but the seas in the Atlantic can be rough in November so I am going to buy them and I am also going to bring Bonine...kind of like a dramamine but non drowsy.  I have only been seasick once on a cruise and I wasn't vomiting sick but my stomach was a mess for 2 or 3 days...only cruise I ever lost weight onSurprise

    ms_lisa71:
I was thinking of bringing a hole punch and a lanyard (sp?).  Do you know, is that OK to do?

The guest services desk can actually punch a hole in it for you.  I believe you can get a lanyard in the casino but it is not the best from what I hear.  I have gotten in the habit of carrying a small wristlet with me at all times so I can always have my card and my lip moisterizer and my camera and a few extra dollars for tips with me at all times.

    ms_lisa71:
Next one - Have you ever used the spa?  They say my 12 year old is welcome, but I just wanted to get a feel - do you agree?

We have used the spa...it is VERY expensive.  Last time I used the spa on a cruise ship I paid $80 for a pedicure...I only pay $35 at home.  Sometimes they run specials but they book quickly.  I have found that they are VERY good just have to decide if they are really worth the price.  As far as your 12 year old...I would imagine they would let her in for a paying treatment but I have seen on past ships that the pools and such in the spa are for adults only so not really sure about that one.  I know she could get a mani, pedi or hair done, just not sure about anything else.

We are definately going to have to meet up on the ship.  We aren't single but we are still fun to hang out with!  I will also be bringing out 2 daughters, 9 & 15.

    Re: Thanksgiving DREAM - 11/23/2009

Hi ms_lisa - Last April I went on my first cruise, it was a 2 week cruise from Mexico to Hawaii.  I was afraid to get sea sick so I got the prescription patch from my doctor, but I didn't use it.  I saw lots of other people with it on but I was afraid of the side effects.  I bought the wrist bands and I think they did help.  I hadn't taken anything and the first full day at sea was rough waters and I ended up feeling like crap.  I put the wrist bands on and took some motion sickness pills.  I felt much better so this time I'm gonna wear the bracelets and take a pill before I start to not feel good.  After 2 days I felt ok and was able to take the bracelets off.   Regarding the room key.  I brought a small hole punch with me and a lanyard so I could wear mine around my neck.  My husband just kept his in his pocket.  I found with it around my neck that while I was lounging by the pool and the waitress would walk by selling those delicious frozen drinks I could just show her my card instead of having to dig it out.  I did read on the carnival site that the new Dream is pretty much smoke free in most areas.  There is only suppose to be a small section in the casino where you can smoke and only outside on a certain floor.  That was the one thing I didn't care for on our last cruise was the casino was so smoky and you had to walk through it to go see the shows.  I also read that the rooms are also smoke free now.  They said if it went over well on the Dream they were gonna implement it fleet wide.   Well look forward to meeting you -- 46 days.  Yahooooooo  JoAnne

    Mr. boulagr,

I did inquire about the credit for the cruise by calling Carnival itself. The woman I spoke with said we DID'T qualify for it. Soooo, i said to myself i am going to send them an e-mail and see what they respond to it. I am pleased to let you know we got the on board credit for almost 200.00 :) Oh boy, was the hubby happy. Thanks again

    Katie

Seems like everyone is getting onboard credits but me...Sad

On a happy note Big Smile we are 42 days and counting...soooooo can't wait.  I will be on the ship also for 11/12-11/15 so I can get us a little preview...any questions, let me know before I leave so I can hope to have them answered for us prior to this sailing.  And I will get lots of pics to share too...but I am hoping alot more come out before I go.

Hey Tracyanns, Don't feel bad I'm not getting any OBC either.  They offered to move me up from deck 8 to deck 11.  We chose to stay where we are.  We like being at the back of the ship so that is where we will stay.  So did you daughter win?? Is that why you are going the 12th - 15th?  See you soon.    JoAnne

Yes JoAnne, she did win.  I am not sure when we are going to find out all of the details but now I don't have to wait 40 days to get on the ship, I only have to wait 29 days and then when I get off I only have another 8 to turn around and do it all again.  I have never been on a cruise to nowhere...I guess it is going to be a new and exciting experience for all!

Only 34 days left to sail!  WooHoo!  Can't wait.  Reserved the car service yesterday and now all I have to do is pack and lose 15 pounds.  I think the packing will be MUCH easier!  Stick out tongue

Wow, we don't have very much activity on our roll call...isn't ANYONE excited besides me that we only have 28 days to go?  Cool

    24 days to go!!!  WooWhoo!!

Tracyanns, I believe there will be like 10 people on this cruise given the activities here and on cruisecritic ;)  Look at it this way - we will be able to find each other easily.  Haha!

We are getting down there.  All in my party have found their clothing for a nice dinner.  We have arranged for all special needs for my mom.  We are flat out excited!!!

See you in a few weeks (somehow)

Go ahead and add 4 more.  My husband and myself booked awhile ago, and my in-laws booked yesterday.  I completely forgot about this site.  I have begun the official count down.  We are so excited.  Does anyone know where the laundry rooms are on the ship?

Welcome aboard Tracey and hubby and mom and dad.  The more the merrier!

Lisa, are you going to the meet and greet?  We will meet then, if not, we will find out own place to meet.  I love meeting new people and hanging out, especially off the ship, it makes it more interesting.  And if the ship is empty than no one will have an issue with me reserving my poolside lounge chair all weekWink  I will bring some crystals and some glue and just bling my name right on there!

We are getting close and I am so happy it is the weekend and we will just be that much closer on Monday!

I talked to my dad last night and he has to have some sort of device implanted to regulate his heartbeat so he is not going to be able to watch our dog for this cruise or the one on 11/12...so that was not something I had in my budget but I guess I now have to set aside a kennel fund.  Hopefully someone can watch the rabbit cuz I have no idea what to do with her!  Of course she is alot less trouble than a dog so I may just send her to the neighbors house for the 4 days and for this cruise I will send her to my moms.

I wonder if they are going to do any theme parties on the ship...I am going to try to find out...being Halloween if we need to get a costume or anything it would be a great time to do so...I know some cruises do a disco night or a cowboy night...haven't cruised CCL in a while so not sure if they do this or not.

Happy Halloween everyone and if anyone has any extra Kit Kats you can throw them my way!  Be safe and be careful...have fun if you have any parties you are going to.  Do you think I would be able to smuggle a cooler of jello shots onboard?  I can make some red and blue ones!

It's a shame you don't live closer to CT.  We have a great dog sitter that is cheap.  Our problem is that we can't get the suitcases out only the day the dogs go on their vacation.  Once they see the suitcases they start going crazy.  Last year Cocoa brought her bone and put it in the suitcase!!  If she could talk I swear she would say "okay mom all set".Big Smile

    Re: Thanksgiving DREAM - 11/23/2009

I thought of a dog sitter and I am a bit hesitant about that.  We have a rottweiler and she is a good dog but with strangers you never know, and especially a stranger coming into her house.  Oh well what can we do.  Normally my dad watches her (and normally our kids) but he can't this time so if she has to go to the kennel once every 18 months or so it is a small price to pay.

I used to live in Maine, what part of CT do you live in and if you don't mine me asking, how old are you guys?  Have you cruised before?  What r us guys going to do in all of the ports?
