Just trying to keep this post alive...I know I am not the only one who is counting the days.  My TP told me the ship will be close to sold out if not sold out as it is already pretty booked up but there isn't too many people on here for this sailing.  Also I post on the cruise critic message boards and not too many on that one either.  Oh well, that is more pool chairs and drink of the days for us!

    Re: Thanksgiving DREAM - 11/23/2009

    sogwod:
I have been searching for a Carnival Cruise for Thanksgiving 2009.  We went on the Valor Thanksgiving 2007 and had a great time.  I cannot find the Dream cruise, where is it going and how did you find it?  I would appreciate any info you can give me.  Enjoy your cruise, we have been on Carnival twice and loved it.

The Destiny has a Thanksgiving Weekend Cruise. It's Thursday to Monday. I booked it instead of the Dream, so my family members would miss limited amounts of school (oldest daughter in grad school, grandsons in 2nd & 1st grades) and work (my wife, youngest daughter, & son-in-law). Since I'm semi-retired and just a sub teacher now, I can cruise whenever and as long as I like. Since Monday is a holiday also in PA, the first day of deer/rifle season, and my wife works for the school district, she will get a 4-night cruise without missing any work at all. That's important since she's taking a week for the Liberty, a week for the Holiday, and 4 days for the Splendor in the next five months. I guess maybe we're done cruising until after July 1, 2010. Sigh!

To find the Dream Cruise, go to Carnival.com, choose Fun Ship Fleet, choose the Dream, choose itinerary, and pick your cruise from the lists. If you are interested in the Destiny Cruise, follow the same procedure for the Destiny. The Destiny is going to Key West and Cozumel. I'm justifying the grandsons missing school on Monday by taking them to see the Mayan Ruins at Tulum (and the second most beautiful beach on Earth of course) as a history lesson.

We love you Kalyn Padget and Rosie Unsworth (our lovely adopted daughters), Amy Barton, Melanie Therrien, TJ, and Rick! The Fun Crew puts the fun in Carnival Cruising! Thank you Butch for being a fantastic CD!

I've only been off the Holiday for a short time, and I'm already having fits of melancholy. I guess unless we can cruise every two months, I'll probably never be satisfied again.

Our 7 YO and 6 YO grandsons decided that they would prefer a Thanksgiving Cruise to Key West and Cozumel on the Destiny to Thanksgiving in Orlando/Kissimmee this November. We must be teaching them well. Thanks for an excuse for my booking another cruise, guys!

We went on two Norwegian Cruise Line Tramp Steamer Cruises - Thank goodness we were too busy on our honeymoon in 1978 to realize how crummy the cruise actually was - Then they ruined our 2007 Hawaii Cruise that was my retirement gift from my wife - Two chances is enough! - Never again!

Our current future dream cruise is 15 days back-to-back on the Freedom / 8-day Eastern (Fort Lauderdale) and the Valor / 7-day Western (Port of Miami) with a 45 minute private shuttle ride in between the two Fun Ships.

    Re: Thanksgiving DREAM - 11/23/2009

I have heard from a few people that have gone on Thanksgiving cruises that the ships are already decorated for Christmas...that would awesome.  Think I may bring some Santa hats and have my Christmas cards done with pics we take if that is the case.

I do hate that people tend to take the best chairs so early...although most of the time I do see people using them for the majority of the day.  I do hate though when you have a great chair in the sun and it would be perfect to lay out and get some sun and people cover up with towels to get out of the sun...what's the point of using it then?  I refuse to get up too early on vacation to get a chair...

    Re: Thanksgiving DREAM - 11/23/2009

We are booked.  There are 3 of us, myDH, my 16 year old DS and myself.  We live in Mass.  We had been looking at this cruise and the one out of Baltimore and I actually got a better price on this one.  I really had my heart set on the Dream seeing as it's new.  This will be my DH and my 2nd cruise, we did the Carnival Spirit to Hawaii in April.  My son is really looking forward to it the only thing is he will miss 4 days of school and the first week of hockey practice.  Oh well I'm sure the Bahamas will be worth it.  75 days and counting    Jo

Hi tracyanns,  Well I think your 15 year old should have a great time.  I know of 4 16 year old boys.  We live in Mass. so we arae planning to take the Amtrak train to NY.  My son has never been on a cruise or a train so it will be a day of firsts for him.  I would love to have a meet & greet.  This site doesn't seem to have any activity.  Are you on cruise critic?  There are several of us on that one and a meet and greet is being planned for Tuesday morning I believe.  I know when I went on the Spirit in April I met two different groups of people on line and had two seperate meet and greets to attend.  If we can get one going for carnival that would be great.  You can count us in.  Look forward to meeting you - 70 days I can't wait.    JoAnne

    Re: Thanksgiving DREAM - 11/23/2009

I would much prefer a ship of 16 YR old girls for my 15 yr old daughterBig Smile.  I am also on cruise critic but haven't been on there in a bit, been very busy with the Dream contest with my youngest daughter.  I also can't get on that site at work and that is where I do most of these things at...not enough time in the day to sit on the computer at night or nothing would get done.  I think Tuesday AM would be great...they should try to organize it in the dining room for breakfast so we can all chat a bit.

My oldest daughter has been on a cruise and she enjoys it.  I am not sure how we are getting to the port yet...probably a limo as I REFUSE to let my hubby drive in manhattan(he hates NYC) and I don't want to and I don't like the bus and I have to drive almost an hour to get a train so what's another 45 minutes?

I am counting down the days...I believe we are at 68 and if little one wins this contest than maybe a few weeks sooner than that for the 2 day cruise.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Hi tracyanns,  Tell your daughter she did a great job on her picture and I voted for her.  I hope she wins.

My husband does not want to drive either becasue of the traffic in NY.  If he drove he would be miserable before we even got on the ship.  The train station and bus station are right next to each other 7 minutes from my home.  The train is cheaper so we are going that route.  Originally my husband was thinking of a limo becasue my sister use to own a limo co. and they always went to NY.  He had no clue how much it would cost one way, over $300.00.  He changed his mind real quick when he found that out.  I'm excited to take a train I have never really been on one.  Well good luck with the contest and see you in 68 days.   Jo Anne
