Re: Singles- what's the problem and what are your tips?

tekel....So, just what is your name.  Is tekel your 'stage name'......lol!  So, if I can be so bold as to ask, where are u from....u know, not asking anything really personal here, just city and state.  U ever hear of Schaumburg, IL....it is a northwest suburb of Chicago....which I know u have heard of.  Silly me here, my memory..or lack of us showing.  When and which ship r u sailing?  Have u cruised before?  If not then u should have a real 'eye-opening' experience cause....yep, as u can tell, WE think its pretty much the greatest.

Hey, not to change subjects but.......so, was it a boyfriend or husband who thought he could find 'greener grass on the other side of the hill', only to find that your grass was the greenest he was ever going to find..........except that when he realized that not only were you the greenest grass in his countryside, but also the prettiest flower he ever done been with..........by that point you had decided you wanted someone who not only could tend the garden, but thought of you as his garden of eden..........and whoever that guy was, well he know longer 'fit the bill'...so to speak and that U knew you didn't have to settle for being second best to nobody................?!?!?!?!  U seem too nice, and have realized that U don't need to be second fiddle for nobody.............There u have it.  I have said a whole mouthful, hope its ok with u that I did, and, well, as I just said, there it is...he done found out too late and the hard way that u must be a good person....now too good for him.............So, especially on your cruise, take life by the horns, laugh, have a drink or 2....no chassie would, maurice would, I would, smitty would....so, we just gotta get together maybe on a future cruise?  Just a thought....maybe?

    Yes, again Rob

Smitty i didnt see you arguing. You should see me in some of these rooms. HAHA i am fighting with alot of people but its because some are mean and some dont read what i write and say i have to tip everyone ON TOP of paying my prepaid gratuities. They said that if i cant afford to pay everyone then i cant afford to go on the cruise. Well i got so mad Angry If i prepaid then why do i have to continue to tip everyone? I am going to tip my room steward Xtra and the waiter but i tell ya they were urking me. Grrr lol

Re: Singles- what's the problem and what are your tips?

    shocker:

...this is the first time I'll be on my own on a ship.  I guess the only thing I'm really wondering about is dinner.  I really enjoy dressing up, dining with companions, conversing about our days and enjoying the meal, a little wine, etc.  Confused  For the first time I'm beginning to feel a little funny about this whole solo cruising thing.  I'm not sure why dinner has me kind of edgy.

i wouldn't worry at all about dinner.  normally they sit you with a bunch of single people too- some are solo on the cruise and others are friends that are on the cruise together, so it's really fun!!  and if you enjoy dressing up, then go ahead and dress up, i always do whether the people at the table do or not- no one has ever said anything negative about it, normally it's lots of compliments!!  Cool

and tekel- don't worry too much, you should just concentrate on having the best vacation ever!!  everything will work itself out and you will meet lots of nice people onboard- you seem pretty nice, so it should be fairly easy- shy or not (i know, because i am also very shy at first).  and i am also in my 30's and never married- don't want to hurry that along anytime soon, having waaaaayyyy too much fun being single!!!  Wink

Hi Wemdy........While I haven't read very many of your postings, I can understand some of us being angry with some of these so-called people and how they express themselves and just what their topics happen to be.  If some of them end up reading this, don't know and don't care how they feel about me cause it doesn't really matter.  You are the people on this site that matter both to me and ot others who really do have something worthy to contribute.  About your losing 1 pant size, well thats just the beginning of it.  Obviously you want to improve your health and appearance because you have your personal reasons for doing so and the fact that you are doing more than simply talking about what you want to do is testament enough.  You go for it girl....we are all here for each other.

When those young (30ish) single guys starting hitting on you, you'll know you're still a babe.

Wine, beer, rum, etc. Helping us below average guys date beautiful women like Wendy since the Garden of Eden!

We love you Kalyn Padget and Rosie Unsworth (our lovely adopted daughters), Amy Barton, Melanie Therrien, TJ, and Rick! The Fun Crew puts the fun in Carnival Cruising! Thank you Butch for being a fantastic CD!

I've only been off the Holiday for a short time, and I'm already having fits of melancholy. I guess unless we can cruise every two months, I'll probably never be satisfied again.

Our 7 YO and 6 YO grandsons decided that they would prefer a Thanksgiving Cruise to Key West and Cozumel on the Destiny to Thanksgiving in Orlando/Kissimmee this November. We must be teaching them well. Thanks for an excuse for my booking another cruise, guys!

Hi Wendy, I'm the grandma of the cruise & I've got a few cheatin bulls in that greener pasture of yours. This is first time in my life I've been single. I've been "occupied" since I was 16. I also have struggled with weight.I lost 100 pounds for my last cruise & of course I found some of it when I disembarked. I'm back to running up & down this road again & will be fit & ready for my cruise come May 2010.  Oh as far as those tips.... I prepay my tips & have never been told I was expected to tip more. The drinks have tips added in also. I cut corners & save like crazy to go on my trips. I do usually last night of cruise tip my cabin steward & waitors extra. Because I want to not because I feel obligated to.

Re: Singles- what's the problem and what are your tips?

Hi Wendy and SardisGrandma....SardisGrandma has it right from start to end.  I have always tipped the same way SardisGrandma seems to.  Have always given our Lead and Assistant Waitors tips with cash the last night of our cruise.  As for tipping my Cabin Steward, if after 2-3 days I see they do more than just say 'hi' and clean up decently, at that point I may give them a cash tip and then also another(like maybe $10) the finaly night of the cruise.  Yes, I know it is their job to keep things clean straighten things up as much as humanly possible(not all of us keep our cabins spotless..lol), but they do make a majority of the income from tips and I feel that if my cabin steward has made a point of knowing my name and addressing me with it, and keeping my cabin in order, then, to me anyway I don't have an issue tipping them a bit more.  My first cruise we had our best cabin steward ever....knew my name and used it when saying hi, but I did go overboard the final night...tipped him $50....think $25 would have been much moer appropriate.  Know what-so I learned the hard way....was just too generous.  Not so much like that anymore.  Usually $20 tip is ok with me.

Tipping the M'aitre D....not sure how to spell that one....oops!  Only once have I tipped them.  Why, because they have to earn it, just like everyone else.  Many cruises they never stopped by our table, didn't interact with the passengers while at dinner....see what I mean Wendy?

Am sure other's here have provided info on this subject already, but thought I would add my version.

    Rob  :)

Congrats, with the diet. I put myself on diet myself. Trying to get my six pack abs pack, which I lose every college football season from tailgating. Well, all the cruises i have been on, I have been single. I just try to find people to talk to and hangout with. From my past cruises, I still communicate with the people I hung out. Well, you should have no problem being single on the cruise. It is making yourself walk around to meet new people.

Good evening everyone. Rob your cruise is very soon. I know you're getting anxious. I wish ours was that soon.Everyone know about the new TSA rules right? It won't apply to you folks that already made your plans before rule goes into affect. Tickets, for flights & I assume cruises, must have the names match exactly as the one on your driver's license or your passport.Begins May 15 I think. This means it uses your middle name or initial. Beginning in August TSA will include your gender & DOB. We called travel agent after I heard this on CNN.He said yes was true.My daughter has already purchased tickets to come visit me this July. He said it wouldn't apply to her because she had already purchased before new rule. I had to renew my drivers license last monday which just had my middle initial & they changed it to show my full name. Said it was for homeland security rules. My passport already had full name on it. Just a little tidbit of info for all.Something us grandmas are good for...watching tv.

SardisGrandma....Wonder if this new TSA set of rules will apply to me.  I purchased my airfare in March and my cruise ticket sometime in February.  Do I also need to have the same, exact name on my cruise ticket as my airline ticket?  My passport has my full name....first middle and last completely spelled out. My airline ticket has it first name, middle initial, last name.  Carnival papers show only my first and last name.  I think I had better contact Carnival tomorrow to get this thing correct!
