    Cool Jeff,

We rented a Jeep last time we went to Cozumel. There are miles of free beaches on the east side. I will be back in Nov. Why do you say you shouldn't snorkel on the east side of Cozumel? Currents or rocks?

    Re: Nachi-Cocom beach

    Henry,

Most of what I have read indicates that the currents on the east side (or rather the riptides) are very strong.  My plan at this point is to rent a Jeep at the pier for my family of four.  I have read they are available for $55 from Executive Car Rental including all the required full insurance.  I would hate for one of my girls to get caught in a riptide that I knew could be there even if I did not see it or feel it.

    Cool Jeff,

Thanks for the prompt response. I understand what you mean about the currents. We never got in the water last time. Just stopped to take pictures. There were a few waves at a couple places. One spot even had surf board rentals.

There will be several places to rent jeeps at the pier. You could also reserve one in advance on line at Orbitz or any of the travel sites.

There is a place on the south east corner of the island that has signs saying No Power No Phones No Credit Cards Cash Only. ;o) But, they do have hammocks on the beach!

    Enjoy your visit.

I would like to add an important fact to this last 2 replies...ALL beaches in Cozumel are PUBLIC! Now, the trap on this is that most access to the beaches are covered by jungle and most of the people who invest in an access street on their land...put a club and charge for it. BUT if you access the beach from the beach (walking paralel) or by boat, you can remain and do whatever you want on any beach also on the beach of a beach club (first 4-5 meters from the water) and nobody can charge you or ask you not to bring a coller, whatsoever. They charge you for their concession of having the beach club with chairs etc there, but nobody can charge you for being at the beach! Hope this helps!

    Re: Nachi-Cocom beach

We were at Nachi-Cocom Beach Club last Saturday for several hours. We got off the Ecstasy and grabbed a taxi and were on the beach around 10:00am.  We were the first people there, they werent even ready to take our money when we got there!  We did not have reservations.  There were only about 8 people there the entire time we were there.  We had wonderful service, great drinks and the food was really good.  well worth the $49.  we took a cab back to the pier around 3:30, shopped a bit and then got on the boat that left around 4:30pm.  wonderful day!

All I can say is - WOW!!!  We went to Nachi Cocum last Thursday (from Inspiration) and spent the day on the most awesome private beach we've ever seen!! It felt like being in a Corona commercial!  Ingrid, the masseuse, was outstanding (my dh and I each got a 30 minute massage that lasted 45 minutes and only cost $35 each because she had openings), Emanuel our waiter was superb and ALWAYS there with a Margarita in his hand for me and the food was the best ever (dh had 3 orders of the ribs and now wants to learn how to make the orange sauce).  I would HIGHLY recommend this if you're planning to be in Cozumel - it was the best excursion EVER according to my dh and I most heartily agree!!

Nachi seemed to us like a Holiday Inn and after visiting Sanchos, which was like a Ritz Carlton to us (even cheaper through Cozumel-Watersports.com than nachi)...we were amazed by the service, food, drinks, sandy beach which was realy large and not crowded...so there is no question where to go in cozumel, it is sanchos beach!!

I hae to agree with Luv 2 Float...we were at Nachi Cocum in Sep 2008 off the Triumph and are booking again for Sep 2009 when we sail on the Valor, and we remarked that it was like a Corona commercial too!  We also had Emanuel for our server, and he was awesome.  The beach was pristine and our photos taken there would take your breath away.  Can't wait to go back in 89 days or so!

Is it just me or do the people on here knocking nachi cocom who also seem to post a website for another beach, seem to be advertising this other beaches like they work at the other beaches?

    Re: Nachi-Cocom beach

I went to the Nachi-Cocom website trying to book a reservation and to get current pricing on the wave runner, parasailing, banana boat etc. Unfortunately the link does not work. Does anyone have contact information?

Thanks for the link. I was going to the actual beach website and their contact link wasn't working. The link you gave me lead me to info. I was searching. Again thanks for the quick reply.
