    8/16/08 cruise...... Tropical storm Faye

Well, my husband and I are going on our FIRST cruise tomorrow... aaannnddd if you look at a 5 day forecast for tropical storm Faye, she'll be right beside us.. unless she goes straight. Then she will be going to our destinations! I'm a little nervous... dont want to be rockin back and forth the whole trip!! I hope it doesnt produce too many waves........  =/

We can all say a little prayer, I'm sure. This will be our first cruise also. We are the Nannery's-- Chuck and Barb. We are on the Empress Deck. It's my understanding that the ship can adjust it's path around the storm. I'm packing Dramamine for hubby just in case. Don't know where you are coming from, but we have to be concerned about our home in Ocean Springs, MS. We're only 5 blocks from the Gulf. Look forward to meeting you on the Lido Deck.

Hi ben38.  We are very familiar with Ocean Springs, Ms. My daughter and son-in-law were stationed at Keesler for years, then bought a home in Ocean Springs.  They had a home right on the Gulf (10 feet).  They were first hit by Hurricane Georges and after they sold their home, it was totally washed away by Katrina.  They go with us on almost all our cruises, but are driving out to Ft Dix to see their son off for his fourth tour to Iraq when we leave on our next cruise out of Galveston.  Put your faith and your home in God's hands. He does a much better job than all of our worrying and have a great cruise.

    Ben38,

I'm pretty sure we're on that deck too. Hopefully if they have to go on a different path, maybe we can go somewhere better =). We're coming from Pensacola, FL... so only about 30-45 minutes away. A friend of mine lives in Ocean Springs. She moved here for a little while, then moved back.

Ben38  I mentioned your name to my daughter and son-in-law from Ocean Springs and they said to tell you "HI" even though they didn't know you.  They are living in Austin now but get back to Ocean Springs every once in awhile.

Hi, let us all know how your trip is going in view of Hurricane weather. My sister is on one of the cruise ships there but I don't know which one. I'll find out at the end of the week. I  just want to know if the ride has been bumpy or calm..I am assuming the weather is not effecting the cruise in the direction of Cozumel..post us a video !

The trip was actually great! One night it did do some rocking. It was when we were going from Progreso to Cozumel. It wasnt bad though.. It actually put me to sleep. I tried my hardest to fight it and stay up, but I couldnt!! Other than that, it was perfect. Perfect weather and everything. The only rain we ran into was it started raining right before we left Mobile and rained for a little after we left. The rest of the time it was sunny and beautiful!!!

My daughter & I were on the same cruise and I felt more the night between ports, but thought it was probably because of a change in speed that we were going.

I got soaked watching us leave Mobile, but it was great!
