Re: ROLL CALL DECEMBER 22, 2008

I will be on this. My parents wanted to do a family cruise for everyone this year. This includes my two sisters, their husbands and children (they have two each) and my partner and I. I have heard that they decorate the ship really nice and look forward to seeing it. I am also excited to be in the Bahamas on Christmas day. It was difficult to nail down the time to do this since all of us are older, but we finally worked it out. Actually, everyone but one of my sisters will be going on a cruise sometime in Sept and Oct before this one.

Hi. I'm Robin. I'm older too...51. I'm looking for a cabin mate if you know someone who doesn't mind bunking with an old lady. I booked early and got a great deal that I can pass on. I have booked the whole room. I did this last year too. Christmas onboard is great. Last year I was on the Celebration. It's been sold now and the fascination took it's place. I had heard that decorations were great too...but they weren't really much at all. But the cruise was great. I'm also looking for the best thing to do in Nassau. I just walked around last year. It is not a nice town...at least the port area isn't. I'm thinking of taking the ferry to Paradise Island. I've heard it's nice. Have you thought about what you will do there? Robin

Re: ROLL CALL DECEMBER 22, 2008

Hey Robin. First off, 51 is not old at all! My parents are avid cruisers and they are entering their 70's. They do whatever they want on when the cruise. As for Nassau, I was there years ago when I went on another family cruise (Fantasy '91). I am personally going to Atlantis because I have been wanting to see it for awhile now. My sister her kids and my parents have already been there before so I am not sure if they will go with me and my partner. i think we are just going to take a cab and buy a one day pass. That way we can do the water park and then tour the grounds and beach after it shuts down. I am thinking of doing it this way since the ship is docked from 12-10 PM. I don't want to do the Carnival Atlantis tour because it would take up too much time on the front end of the day and I am sure the water park closes around 5. Since the ship leaves port so late we can tour the grounds after the water park closes. I am assuming everything there will still be open even though it will be Christmas Day.

Aside from that there should be a few things you can do in port. You could just take the excursion to the Atlantis beach and hang out there all day. I think the beach on Paradise Island is called Cabbage Beach and I have gheard good things about it. It isn't near as much as the other tour. Atlantis is not that far from the dock so even getting a cab on your own should be pretty reasonable. Check out the destination forum on the Bahamas. There are a lot of threads with suggestions on there. I hope you have a wonderful time! Keep posting on this thread and maybe we (and some others) can help each other out. Good luck finding a cabin mate also.

51?  You are just kids.  We didn't start cruising until we were 65 and we are on cruise #11 with two more booked.

Re: ROLL CALL 12-22-08- Need a bunk? $605 total

I am assuming that Carnival will have a nice Christmas (or "Holiday" if you will) type dinner on this cruise. I need to know if it would be on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I ask because we will be in Nassau on Christmas Day and stay in port there until 10 PM. I would like to do a full day at Atlantis. It would work out to spend the afternoon and early evening at the waterpark and then spend the rest of the time exploring the grounds. However, if there is a big Christmas dinner that night then I know my Mom will want my whole family to be there for it (It is a family cruise). If they are having a big dinner that night then I will just skip Atlantis since I won't have much time there and just go to a beach or something. Does anyone have any input on this?

    Hi Robin,

I am interested, just not sure I can swing this on short notice (I have a cruise booked for the end of this month already).  Also, I have to check to see if I have enough vacation time left this year at work.  What type of room do you have booked?
