Are water shoes necessary for Dunns River Falls? Or are they reccomended/optional?

Unless you have leather soles on your feet, I would strongly recommend that you wear water shoes. Not sneakers, not flip flops..Water Shoes. I've climbed the Falls and will be doing it again in a few weeks, when we get to Jamaica...leaving in 15 days. Only the locales climb barefoot... and get them before you leave..I got mine at Walmart for $2.50..on the ship and in Jamaica they will be about $15.

When I was there in '07 it seemed that the watershoes were MANDATORY.  They are a good idea though........grab them at walmart while they are clearancing for the end of season. Mine are 3 years old...were cheap....and still in great shape

Hi, Watershoes are definitely mandatory, if you don't take your own they will make you rent shoes at the falls for $15.00/pair. I chose to buy my own from walmart before going to Jamaica (not sure i want to wear someone else water shoes..LOL).Climbing the falls is a wonderful excursion, enjoy. my hubby and I are taking our kids there in April as Ocho Rios is one of our ports.
