I have a big group of 52 and the ages vary from 24 to 80, but more in the 30ish. We go together every two years and our group keeps expanding all the time. We are a very fun group and we usually hang out at the back pool bar area. We are all from Ohio so we are just happy to get away from Winter. We have been to all the ports 2 or three times except for the Dominican Republic which I know nothing about but I am very knowledgeable about the other ports. CAN'T WAIT !!

We usually book through Carnival on excursions, unless we are going to the beach. We find that the taxi drivers know the best places to go. When we go to Nassau we go to Paradise Beach it is a public beach about a 1/2 mile from the Atlantis Resort which is a nice place to visit but very expensive. We rent chairs at the beach and there is always an enterprizing local there selling drinks or the hotel bar is close. The last two times we have gone there we paid $ 10.00 and drank pina colados out of  a coconut all day. whoa !!! Some of the best times we have had on a cruise have been on that beach. San Juan not much to do in the evening but gamble at the casinos or go to the bars May I suggest Senor Frogs it is a great time dancing and drinking. The guards getting off the ship at San Juan have told me not to leave the small village area after dark, it gets a little scary. St Thomas has one of the top ten beaches in the world it is Meagans Bay it is gorgeous and the ride there is beautiful it goes through some large hills and you look down at the bay where all the cruise ships are parked. I have never been to the Dom. Republic so I can't give you any info on that area. The reason I go through Carnival is the excursions are well organized and safe and about the same price as if you go on your own.

Do you book the paradise beach through Carnival or do we just take a cab to the beach? I saw some excursions in Nassau through differerent hotels?

Re: Roll Call Jan10th on the Splendor?

When we go to the beaches we just jump in the cab and tell him to take us to the best public beach near a hotel. With the excursions you may get a few free drinks but it is usually rum punch or draft beer and not Bud Light and the food is usually hamburgers or hot dogs and at a certain time. The only thing is to get close to a hotel with a bar so you can borrow there bathrooms if the public beach doesn't have any. The cab drivers have always been very accomidating and helpful but there driving is scary. The only thing with an excursion sometimes you can use there swimming pool at the hotel they arrange to take you to, but not all of them have pools. What ever you do don"t take the Blackbeards beach anything. We took our 2 kids last December and we went on the excursion and the beach is small and rocky and it takes 45 minutes to get their by boat and your trapped on this small island and very expensive food and drinks. So a hour and a half of your beach time was in this boat with not much of a view and we only had about 2 hours on the beach. Well I hope this helps and if you have any other questions just ask. PS I here the aqaurium at Atlantis Resort is great.

My husband and I are traveling with our 21-year-old daughter.   We are forcing her to leave the boyfriend behind and spend time with Mom and Dad = b-o-r-i-n-g!!

Despite being very outgoing, my daughter has found it difficult to find kids her age to hang with.  Most twenty-somethings on a cruise seem to be part of a group (e.g., college kids on a school break) or in couples.

Any in your group who might be candidates?

Maybe we have a set of 22 or 23 year old twins coming along and a 17 year old all girls of course. It seems like once your twenty one you don't want to hang out with 17 year olds, The twins would probably be the best fit for her. We could maybe arrange a meeting somewhere on the ship.

Thank you so much for your reply!  I know my daughter will appreciate an opportunity to meet cruisers her own age.  Any suggestions on how best to arrange a meeting?

Re: Roll Call Jan10th on the Splendor?

I will be on the cruise along with alot of my friends.  We go every January on a Carnival cruise with a group of our closest friends.  There should be around 3 girls and 8 guys, ranging from the ages of 20-29.  We are from Kentucky and are very open to meeting new people.  Over the past few years, we have met some great people who have turned out to be great friends of ours on cruises.  My buddy actually met his current girlfriend on a cruise 2 years ago.  So, there will be people in her age range on the boat that she could possibly meet and hang out with.  Less than 4 months to go and I can't wait!!!!

We are going to be on that cruise.  There will be around 30 of us.  For teenagers we have 3 - 17 yr olds, 1 - 19 yr old, 1 - 20 yr old, 1 - 14 yr old & 1 -13 yr old.  We have 3 that are 9 & 7 and then the rest of us range from 25 - 65.  We are going to relax and have a great time. We call ourselves the Krazy Kansans and the first day we are planning to wear our Krazy Kansans shirts, so we shouldn't be hard to find.  If you can't find us, just look at the bar on the lido deck, that's usually the first place we go.  My kids have been on 2 cruises before and absolutely love making new friends and having someone else to hang out with.  Let me know if you want to arrange a meeting for them.

Thank you Krazy Kansan and jkball01 (and cruiser 10) for your replies regarding other twenty-somethings my kid could hang with during the cruise.

This is our first Carnival cruise.  On other cruises, there have been get togethers the first night for 20 year olds -- except the only one who showed up was my daughter!  Do you know whether Carnival typically schedules a similar first night meet-and-greet?  If so, would that be a good place for all of these kids to meet up?  Otherwise, would you have any other suggestions?  (Thank you for the offer, Krazy Kansan, for my daughter to crash your soiree but I think she might feel uncomfortable doing so.)
