    Empress deck, aft room

Well it's for sure now that our son is not bringing a friend, but he is coming with us, thank goodness.  We have cancelled the two 7a, partially obstructed view balcony rooms and for next to no additional cost upgraded to 1 8E aft cabin for the 3 of us to share.  I wanted an extended balcony if there were 3 of us in a room.  The room number is 6262 on the Empress deck.  Any feedback?   Based on what I've read this looks great.   A break from the wind and a wonderful view.  Anyone had this room.  Tell me I didn't do a knucklehead change, ok?

    Thanks

    -Brenda

You didn't say when you are sailing, but we have that room Sept. 28-Oct 4.  If you have already sailed, tell me how it was.  If we are sailing first, I will be happy to report.  If we are sailing at the same time, Houston, we have a problem.

Lucky you, you're first! We had booked the cruise for Dec 7, but have pushed it out to January due to my son's school schedule. We now have room 6264, right next door.  On another cruise forum, I found a picture taken of the view from 6264 and it's now my wallpaper.  What an awesome view.  I love seeing that picture every morning.  Tex, I think it's gonna be great!!

Only 1  month to go for you!  I look forward to hearing how you liked the room.  Have a great cruise!

May I ask what forum you found the picture in?  I have 7264 which is just one level above you and I have heard all the rooms look, alike except for the suites.

I believe it was Cruisecritic.com, select Carnival forums, and I think the title of the thread was "Aft balcony - yay or nay?"  It wasn't the room that was so great (though it was fine) but the view from the balcony of the wake of the ship that just looked fantastic!

FYI, some say the aft balconies have no breeze and they find them too hot.  I don't think that's going to be a big issue on this cruise for me.  My last cruise to Cabo I almost froze.  Hot sounds great to me!

    When are you cruising Chacooe?

I am on the Pride for Halloween, we leave Long Beach on Oct.26th, and this will be my very first cruise.  I am so excited, this has been a dream of mine since I was 5 years old, when I got to go aboard a Dutch freighter in 1956.  I will also be accomplishing another dream of mine and that is to swim with the dolphins.  I am an avid Dolpjin collector (have over 300 pieces), so I am so overwhelmed that I get to do the dreams that I have had for a lifetime.

I was in 6264 empress on the Spirit which is sister ship to the Pride and absolutely loved it.  You won't regret it.

My observations for the aft ext balcony vs side ext balcony:

    • Only privacy is if you avoid the railing.  People from above can look down on you.
    • Soot from the stack lands on the chairs so be careful when sitting down to check for black marks.  It is really hard to get out of clothes.
    • More sunshine, less wind back there
    • Wake of the ship is beautiful and allows great picture opportunity and awesome sunsets but it is also noisy.  Wake sounds like a waterfall back there.  Once inside the room though is totally quiet.  Less foot trafffic in the halls.

I really liked it.  I think the pictures you saw on cruise critic were mine.  I can email you pictures if you like.  This site only allows url's and I don't have them there. Email me at slajmartin at msn dot com and I'll be glad to send them.  I booked the Pride this February but since I'm bringing my kids I had to downgrade to a quad 5A.  At least I'm still sailing.

Lisa, it was your pictures that I used for my wallpaper. Thank you for not minding. They are beautiful. I especially love the balcony shot with the view of the wake.  It was the first time my son was a dazzled by the thought of the cruise.  He saw that picture, knew we would be in that same spot in a few short months and his eyes absolutley lit up.  Thank you a million times over for that!

I would love more pictures and I'll email you.  Thanks for your kind offer.

You have mail Brenda.  I sent quite a few but didn't want to bombard you.  If you want more, just say the word.  I have lots taken as we pulled out of San Diego which was cool.  The sunset the first night as we headed south was spectacular.  Make sure you are on the balcony at sunset when you are traveling south.  Not to miss camera shots.  I have a couple of those too that I didn't send.  The sun was obviously setting off to the left of our balcony but very easy to see.

Wife and I where on the Pride back in 07 and we had  ext balcony stateroom # 5268 and it was GREAT, we would sit out on the balcony at nite and sip wine  and eat cheese, watch the moon reflect off the water and in the morning we would sit there and have room service bring us coffee and pastries and watch the ship pull in to port. And for privacy we had all we needed,Wife sunbathed and no one knew.

Crusing Couple, I love the picture you just painted in my mind. That sounds like absolute heaven!   (I'm talking about the wine and cheese in the moonlight - not your wife's sunbthing LOL)    I noticed that on the last night of our cruise we have a full moon. Sounds perfect to me!

Lisa - thanks so much for the pictures - absolutely wonderful!

Chacoe - congrats on being able to live your dream.  Everyone should be so blessed.

    Thank you Brenda,

It has taken me a long time to be able to do this, and I still can't believe that it is finally going to happen.  Everyday now I look on this site and look at a countdown clock just to make sure, but I really feel that when the day comes I won't be able to believe that it is finally happening.
