There are 4 of us from the Tampa/SRQ area. We are so excited! 89 days!!!

Are you opting to get any shots done prior? I went to Egypt last year so I got the basics, but wondering if anyone is bothering with it for the cruise.

I got typhoid, polio, tetanus and hep A for my trip to Egypt. Hep A and tetanus is good to have in general, but I read up that it might be good to get the yellow fever shot. I read mixed reports from other cruisers. I dunno about it though since it is not that much of a risk and the shot is expensive, but we were planning the canal kayaking and being that it is on water it worries me with the mosquitoes.http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/contentVaccinations.aspx

Any ideas or am I being over cautious?

No we are not getting any shots. I went on a cruise last year and we went to Bermuda, ST Thomas, , Tortola and we didn't get any shots and we were fine...

I have been to a bunch of places in the Caribbean,and shots were not needs. Yet, this cruise is south america and from what I see on the CDC website it suggests them, especially Panama. I am going to a clinic today since I have to update my hep a (that is suggested to have in general) shot anyways and see what they say.

I went to the health department and yellow fever is not needed for the area we will be in. I do already have tetanus, typhoid and hep a from another trip.

Diane and George / Val and Pete are coming from Canada ( we'll be the ones arriving by dog sled) Really looking forward to the trip! We have been packed and ready for three weeks.
