Hi Tee,
Sorry for the late reply but we just got home from our latest cruises. Pride and Paradise...and as usual they were wonderful.
To your question....
It was our grand daughter we were able to take with us to Alaska. The cruise was the best we've ever been on since we DID have her along. She's the only little girl so far as a grandchild so holds a special place in our hearts (3 other grandies are boys).
She went to Camp Carnival each day and at times it was hard getting her away from CC. She just loved it. She met other friends that when they weren't in CC they swam and played together. Yes, swimming in the cold pool water didn't seem to bother those kids...lol. We did have to pay for a 3rd person and had to have a 3 person cabin.
I think your daughter would have a great time....depends on how she gets along with other children I would think, but I can't say enough about how the female staff in CC treat the little passengers they watch over. The staff really are wonderful. And on that particular cruise there were only about 12 other children in CC so the staff to child ratio was about 2 to 1.
The parents (grandparents) are given a beeper in case of emergency while the child in in CC although ours never rang.
We were able to spend meals together as CC shuts down during meal time so we were able to pig out together. CC isn't open in the evenings, and since we liked being with our grand daughter we didn't send her to babysitting in the evenings, although that is an option. We took her to one show in the lounge and even though we could tell she was tired she refused to go back to the cabin, wanting to see the end. But I did end up carrying her back....lol. We also didn't mention to her there we other shows as I thought they were too late for here to stay up night after night.
We went in September so the weather in the ports sucked (rain) except for Ketchican which was sunny and warm. While in Skagway we took her gold panning and she loved it and still has the little container of gold she found. We went on the "duck" in Juneau, which is an amphibious craft. It starts out on land for a short tour of the city then drives into the water. She loved that also. In sunny Ketchican we just walked around and she seemed to enjoy that also.
Please take her with you. You'll all enjoy the cruise and each other's company. And there is something magical about Alaska and it's scenery.
