    carnival pride

Traveling on the pride. I have been on carnival once did not like it. Did not like the food. Want to give it a try again. Can you give me any info. on this ship. I will be going to the eastern carribean.

I'm just curious why you would go on Carnival again if you didn't like it.  Cruises aren't cheap -- I certainly can't afford to go on trips to "give it a try again."  Why not take a different cruise line?

I went along time ago and everybody tells me carnival is great so I am thinking we just had a bad ship. At least I am hoping.

The Carnival Pride is beautiful, we were on it to Mexico a few months back. I would go again as there are others posting the same about the Pride. You will have a great time and the ship will be beautiful and enjoyabe to every one.

Last year, we went on the Elation & Loved it-- my dad was chosen to sing as Sinatra in the Cruise Celebrity Impersonators show.  I'm hoping the Pride has the same Melting Chocolate Cake for desert!

    Re: carnival pride

The Chocolate Melting Cake has been a staple on all ships and available every night last I heard!  It was available every night on the Pride when we cruised in January and every night on the Paradise when we cruised in July.

PLEASE KEEP THE PRIDE IN LONG BEACH!!!

It's been our experience that of the ships we've been on, Pride has the best food.  Dunno if they have the same head chef every cruise but on one cruise we were on, it even seemed better than "normal" and I went out of my way to praise the food to the maitre d'.

    Re: carnival pride

I tried to reply & got the error message so I'll attempt again.

I was on the sister ship "Spirit" in April and loved it so much I booked the Pride for next Feb & taking my kids.

If you ate at the buffet, I would agree with you.  I wasn't pleased with the buffet food.  Had a hard time convincing my husband to dress up for dinner so we ate at the buffet half the time for dinner.  Breakfast & lunch was okay at the buffet but for some reason, dinner just wasn't that good.  Now the dining room was fabulous.  Didn't eat a meal I didn't like.  Chocolate melting cake on the menu every night.  The best dessert was the bitter n blanc which by name doesn't sound that good but it was the best.  Like a vanilla bread pudding with sauce poured down the center and over the top served with vanilla ice cream. YUM!!!!  Can't wait for February.

ChrisI see you went to Alaska and you have a child. We want to go to Alaska but I was not sure how it would be with my 7 year old daughter, if she would like it. Did you find she enjoyed it, and did not mind the cold.

    Re: carnival pride

    Hi Tee,

Sorry for the late reply but we just got  home from our latest cruises.  Pride and Paradise...and as usual they were wonderful.

    To your question....

It was our grand daughter we were able to take with us to Alaska.  The cruise was the best we've ever been on since we DID have her along.  She's the only little girl so far as a grandchild so holds a special place in our hearts (3 other grandies are boys).

She went to Camp Carnival each day and at times it was hard getting her away from CC.  She just loved it.  She met other friends that when they weren't in CC they swam and played together.  Yes, swimming in the cold pool water didn't seem to bother those kids...lol. We did have to pay for a 3rd person and had to have a 3 person cabin.

I think your daughter would have a great time....depends on how she gets along with other children I would think, but I can't say enough about how the female staff  in CC treat the little passengers they watch over.  The staff really are wonderful.  And on that particular cruise there were only about 12 other children in CC so the staff to child ratio was about 2 to 1.

The parents (grandparents) are given a beeper in case of emergency while the child in in CC although ours never rang.

We were able to spend meals together as CC shuts down during meal time so we were able to pig out together.  CC isn't open in the evenings, and since we liked being with our grand daughter we didn't send her to babysitting in the evenings, although that is an option.  We took her to one show in the lounge and even though we could tell she was tired she refused to go back to the cabin, wanting to see the end.  But I did end up carrying her back....lol.  We also didn't mention to her there we other shows as I thought they were too late for here to stay up night after night.

We went in September so the weather in the ports sucked (rain) except for Ketchican which was sunny and warm.  While in Skagway we took her gold panning and she loved it and still has the little container of gold she found.  We went on the "duck" in Juneau, which is an amphibious craft.  It starts out on land for a short tour of the city then drives into the water.  She loved that also.  In sunny Ketchican we just walked around and she seemed to enjoy that also.

Please take her with you.  You'll all enjoy the cruise and each other's company.  And there is something magical about Alaska and it's scenery.

    Re: carnival pride

Thank you chris for the info. Glad you get to spend the time with your grand daughter. We decided to take our daughter to Alaska on our next cruise after the eastern caribbean cruise. I think she will enjoy the animals. We are thinking of going in july 2010 so hopefully the weather is better.

    Re: carnival pride

You're welcome.  And July sounds like a great  month to go, weatherwise.  Hope you all enjoy it.

I have to mention the Chocolate Melting Cake since someone else mentioned it in this thread.

We also loved it (note the past tense) on each cruise until we got the recipe from another cruise board, then made it at home just before leaving on our last cruises.  It tasted just as good but the problem for us is the ingredients.  SOLID ARTERY CLOGGERS.....lol.

Lessee.....9 whole eggs, 1 3/4 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips,  1 3/4 cups of butter, 1/2 plus 1/16 cup of sugar, 2/3 cup of flour.  Served with ice cream.

Sorry if my mentioning of the ingredients causes anyone  to be put off but for those of you with high cholesterol you may want to think twice about eating it each night.  On a brighter note, if you do eat it each night you will die with a smile on your face.  Big Smile
