Sorry, a couple of places we are not sure what to do at Grand Turk or in Nassau.  We like to snorkel and love the beach.  We are on a budget.  Have any ideas?

    Hi Stacy,

We have never been to Grand Turk so i can't answer that one. In Nassau we did the Black Beards Beach Break. We just wanted to do a beach day and it was just what we wanted. The beach was clean, water was warm and clear and there was plenty of places to sit down. We even tried some the food on the island and that too was good. If you go on this excursion you will see approx 4 hours for the excursion. You will be on a 1/2 hour boat ride to and from the island so you will get approx 3 hours on the island to enjoy. We also found out the stores in Nassau close early. Our excursion came back approx 5pm and the stores were closing or were already closed.

Thank you so much - Good to know that the stores closed around 5:00 - appreciate all your information.

if money is tight, there is a beach with chairs as soon as you get off the ship.  There is also duty free shopping right near the pier.  I paid for a beach excursion last year while at Grand Turk and it was a rip off they just took us to the other side of the island and gave us snorkeling equipment there wasn't any fish.  The snorkeling excursion is St. Thomas was much better

    Sparkle,

did that happen to be the Governor's Beach and Snorkel excursion where you get on a train and you can come back any time you like?  If so, I may just cancel it.  I really want to see fish but my 7 year old son has a fear of jumping off of a boat to snorkel.  He will only go in from the beach.  I'm looking for a place with good snorkeling off the beach in Grand Turk.  We are going Oct 12, 2008 and will be there 11 - 5:30p.  Thanks.

I just came back from a cruise to Grand Turk. There is shopping and the beach directly in front of you as you get off the ship. The water is nice, however I recommend that you bring water shoes, as the coral is all the way up to the shore and can be sharp in places. There is an pool that you can use for free there, and shopping is more inexpensive than in St. Thomas, if you're looking for souvenirs. I was told by a family there is an excursion in which you feed squid to the stingrays. They really loved interacting with them, and the rays sucked the squid right off their hands! I do not know how much this costs, however. We had very little time there, so we did our shopping first then cooled off in the water. Hope you enjoy your cruise!
