    Fins and Flippers or Tabyanna?

Has anyone been to Fins and Flippers Island in Roatan?  Private excursion.  Trying to decide between Tabyana and F&F.  From what I've read less people, better food at F&F, better beach at Tabyanna?  Interested in snorkeling off shore.  Wonder if anyone can compare the two?

Sorry, I can't comapre the two but I can tell you that we just went to Tabayana and it was great!!  They have all sorts of activities (jet skis, banana boats, etc) plus great snorkeling right off the beach.  The beach is amazing there.  The food was fine, nothing super exciting, but decent.

    Hi FrannyK,

We were going to do the Fins & Flippers when we were in Roatan last October on the Legend. The problem was that when we got off the ship, the ferry was not running yet (too early in the morning, 6am their time). So, since we had only a 1/2 day to spend on Roatan, we decided to go over to Tabayana Beach and I must say, it was the best decision we could have made. It is my favorite place by far. The most gorgeous beach I've been to yet. I have no idea what time the ferry started to get over to F&F, but I'm glad we went to Tabayana. We didn't do a shore excursion, just took a taxi over. There was food, drinks and bathrooms where he dropped us off. Also a place to rent snorkel equipment and sea kayaks. The beach was not crowded at all and we spent our entire time there. You can snorkel right off the beach and the reef is absolutely gorgeous! You won't be disappointed. Enjoy your cruise

    Happy Sailing!!

Wow Janann, ferry times have never been mentioned in reviews I've read.  That is really good to know.  I think I will email F&F to see what time the Ferry runs before I commit.  You are right that we don't have much time and I hate to waste it!  Although, we will be w/our teens this time and they are not exactly chipper in the a.m., so it all might work out.

Re: Fins and Flippers or Tabyanna?

    Hi Frank,

Let me just say, I really didn't know about Fins and Flippers until the day before we got to Roatan. I have friends that were working on the Legend (which is why I was cruising on there) and they got a brochure about it from some of the other crew members. I looked like it was great and fun, but when you get off the ship, there is NO direction as to where to go. The brochure only said 1/3 of a mile from end of the pier.....Well, Roatan has NOTHING at the pier and it's just a very small village there, so we didn't know where to go. When we started asking the locals, they told us that you have to take a shuttle because this "Fins and Flippers" takes place on a smaller island right off of Roatan... Anyway, they said the shuttle/ferry wasn't running that early and it would be an hour or so before they started up. Needless to say, we didn't want to waste and hour doing nothing waiting on a shuttle to get going. So we found a taxi driver who said he would take us to the "Most beautiful beach on the island".... that turned out to be Tabayana and it's a little slice of heaven.

Now, I don't know if what they told me was true or not... who knows, the shuttle could have started running right after we got in the taxi and headed to Tabayana.  I will say, that "Fins and Flippers" looks like it would be fun also. Maybe next time I'll make it over there, but it would be hard to resist going back to Tabayana again! Either way, I think you'll have a fantastic time! Here are a few pictures I snapped while at Tabayana... Enjoy!

    Happy Sailing!!
