    I would like to know if my 5 month old baby pays, if so, do you have a special rate?

    thanks

    Re: rates

    If the baby is the 3rd or 4th passenger in the cabin, the 3rd/4th passenger rate applies.

    If the baby is only the second passenger, then the full rate would apply.

    Re: rates

    The OP is very correct!  It may seem like your tiny infant should not have to pay so much, but cruising is a supply and demand business and your infant takes up the space that a grown adult could take, so the charges are the same.    That said, there are often 3rd and 4th person specials, so keep checking (assuming that would apply to your situation).

    Enjoy your cruise!

    Re: rates

    I'm sorry, but a 5 month old baby does not take up the same amount of room as an adult.  In a cabin for two, my 5 month old would fit just fine with us.  And not only can they fit, they don't eat like adults, they will not drink "free" beverages like adults, they will not participate in the activities like adults.  I think this is a crock.

    Re: rates

    first thing is that a 5 month old can not cruise.... min. age is 6 months...

    and it is just as unfair that if you sail solo.... you have to pay almost double the fair.   just have to accept the standard policy or find another way to vacation;

    I know it doesn't seem fair, but that is how it is.

    Re: rates

    "Space" may be the wrong word.

    An infant takes away a spot that "could" have been used by an adult.  Meaning that although an infant (or even a child) doesn't take up that much space in a cabin when it comes to capacity they are counted as a person.  As such you would need a three person cabin for 2 adults and an infant (you can't just get a double).  Because of restrictions on passenger capacity on the ship the infant is filling a spot and as such has to pay the same as a third adult in a cabin.  As someone else stated - you don't pay full price on 3rd, 4th (or 5th on some ships) person in a cabin - it is already reduced.  If it was just an adult and an infant - the infant would be paying full fare and not even be eligible for the reduced 3rd and 4th rate.  So it is not based on age but number in a cabin.

    Is it fair to the consumer?  Maybe not - but it doesn't matter to them.  If they allowed a "reduced childrens fare" they would be losing revenue.  Not only that but an adult spends a lot more money then you are going to spend on an infant.  So they will actually make less by having an infant onboard - so to expect them to reduce the price even more doesn't make economical sense to them.

    Sorry - that's just how it is.  Now that's not to say that there may not be other cruiselines out there that might have a reduced rate.  Someone else may be able to help.
