Hello!!!  This is our second cruise w/carnival.  We did the Carnival Valor 7 day cruise last Sept.

We are bringing all three children this cruise.  This is their first cruise.  They are very excited.

I'm shocked that not more people have responded.

I agree, Sept. can not get here fast enough for us either.

    Talk Soon,

    Mary

Our 16 year old daughter will be coming with us. Glad to hear there will be other kids on board. I was worried that with the time of year most kids would be in school.

My Children are Bradley(11), Jordan(9)(boy), and Lauren(6)(Diva!) oh and my Husband is 35Confused   LOL!

My daughter is going to send me to the poor house.  She is requesting a complete new wardrobe.  I told her not for only five days.  So she talked me into a few things.  OMG that child of mine!

But everyday we have to check to see how many days we have left.

Are any of you bringing two way radios to keep in contact w/family or children.  We are thinking about it and was wondering if it is a good idea.

    74 Days!Paradise

I will be talking to my daughter's school about the trip when school starts back. My husband could not get a vacation til Sept. And being a nurse I cannot take vacation around any major holiday so that  knocked out Christmas holiday. There was no way I was going to wait til next summer. I added you to my yahoo contact list mine is smjlpn.

We live about 40 miles from Tampa so it will be a quick trip to the terminal for us. I am going to Tampa tomorrow afternoon and plan to drive over to the port. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of the ship if it is in.

My daughter Danielle is 16. Our neighbors from across the street are also going but they do not have children. Yes we are bringing our radios. I have heard that they don't work on all parts of the ship but it is worth a try.

I have been shopping every week getting ready for the trip. I let Danielle spend about $80 for a few new things for the trip. But she is saving her own spending money!

I am not on this cruise, but I saw your entry and thought I would share some info with you from a previous experience I had with schools and cruising.  In 2003 I planned a cruise for my Mom, her children and grandchildren.  My Mom has six grandsons, and at the time they were ages 14 (2), 12 (1), 6 (1), and 2 who were in college.  As our cruise was the week of October 17th, the kids all had to miss a full week of school.  What I did was to contact each of the younger boys' schools and tell them that due to economics this trip was being taken during the school year.  However, I told them that we had intentionally selected this cruise which included Cozumel as a port of call so that the boys would have the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the Mayan culture about which they learned or were learning in school.  Upon agreeing to take the boys to see the Mayan ruins and subsequently have each to give an age-appropriate presentation on their experience to the class, all of their respective schools dismissed the absences from school for the week.

One thing though, the excursion we took to the ruins was quite expensive (if I recall correctly it was $90 per person) and because the temperature that day exceeded 90 degrees, it was the least favorite adventure of our trip.  However, it did save the boys from a week of absences in their school files for what it's worth ;) AND it seemed to bring home the fact that what they learn/see in their school books IS ACTUALLY REAL!

Have a great cruise....I wish our next one was in September instead of November ;)

    Re: Roll Call 09/27/08

My Brother lives in Hillsbrough county.  I think we are parking at his house and having shuttle pick us up or have him take us.  Not sure yet.  There six of us going.  The five in my family and my Husband's Cousin Chuck.

I was trying to save on the parking fees..But to take a shuttle might be just as much because of the distance.  I think my brother's place is 45mins or more from port.

We are almost three hours from Tampa..So we have a long ride.  I hope the three children will sleep all the way.  I doubt it though, they will be too excited.

Sharon I added you to my yahoo..just waiting for you except.  Ginger I added you as well.

    Talk to all soon! Paradise
