Just saw this post today and my family and friends of 8 are on the roll call.  It was suppose to be a all girl cruise but we have two guy stow aways.  It's my third cruise but for a few this is a first.  I pray I did not over sell it to them.  I love to go on Cruise Ships.

Hope to meet you.  Our age range is from 28 to 74.  We hope to have a blast.

I am making yellow T's for us all to wear on a shirt day (which is something my sister and I thought up), still don't know what I am putting on them, but something like Cruisin' with the Girls on the Carnival Sprit 11 12 2008.

On a big budget, so we are in the cheap rooms.

I am glad to hear from someone taking this cruise. We live in arizona, and we decided to drive to san diego instead of flying. The t's sound like a great idea. Have you every sailed out of san diego? It should be a fun cruise. My husband and I are in our forty's.We will be on our 30th wedding anniversary during the cruise.

Cool [H] Re: Roll Call Spirt 11/12/2008

There are 8 of us coming from Juneau Alaska to be on this cruise.  Been driving me nuts all summer long seeing the Spirit docked in Juneau and we couldn't visit due to security reasons.  This is my third cruise and 4 of us are celebrating our 50th birthdays together!   Can't wait to get out of the rain and into the SUN!!!  Just look for the loud group drinking at the pool with the white "halibut" bellies!  You'll be able to tell we're the Alaskans!  Have a Happy 30th Anniversary!  What a way to celebrate!

There are 8 of us also, but we are coming from Oregon, Montana, Minnasota and Arizona, so we will all be fish (no halibut in these locations) bellies as well, the Arizona couple spend all summer in Montana with daughter.  We can make a party of 18 real fast at that pool with the people posted on here.  Just look for the fancy towels we are bringing to save our places. (hint, they provide towels at the pools, but there all alike so it never saves your place when you run for that ice cream, pizza and french frys) The yellow T's we have for T shirt day have Cruisn' with the Girls on them, but we will probably only wear them once, we are encountering some resistance on them.  LOL

Our group is getting so excited to Cruise, and no, I have never gone from San Diego before, four of us are in town the day before and staying at Best Western Yacht Harbor because it's close to the pier and they shuttle from airport and shuttle to cruise line.  The others will be in town, but staying at the relatives house there.  If you are new to Cruisn' be sure to get the fun pass and all your paperwork in order and in purse (I have heard some forget and let the baggage people take them[:'(] ), it gets you on the ship a lot faster.  So you can get that first welcome drink a going.

I also read on the web site you can bring a bottle of wine with you (carry on) so we are all doing that, know the cost of drinks on the ship.  LOL

Hi Paula, I too booked a aft suite with a wrap deck on the Empress deck. I found another blog where this guy posted his website address with photos of one of the suites.  Check it out here:

Hi Brenda,  Thank you for the link.  I took a quick look and will show it to my husband. I think your suite is larger on the Empress deck. We are in the bottom of the boat.  We are so excited about our cruise.  I spent the entire day reading message boards and ordering a bunch of fun stuff for our room.  I read somewhere that it is a good idea to bring a bungie cord if you want to keep the door open to the deck to sleep with it open or just enjoy the fresh air!!!

Here I go again...  I have so many questions.  Is anyone familiar with the Port of San Diego?

I wonder what time we could check in?  I have not received my package (I guess 30 days prior).  You will all get tired of me and my questions .... LOL

    Hi Paula,

From the research I've done, the Holiday Inn Bayside is right across the street from the dock in San Diego and they offer packages for staying the night before & parking at their facility while you are on the ship.  You can literally walk across the street to the ship.  As for your cruise documents, you can either wait for Carnival to mail them to you about 3 weeks before departure or you can log into your account at carnival.com and click on the section called "MY DOCUMENTS" and print out your docs and baggage tags.  The Carnival website also shows you can board in San Diego at 1:30pm on the day of sailing.  Don't forget to complete all your sign & sail info ahead of time to make check in easier.

Anyone with experience in  hiring a cab by the hour in Zihuatanejo?  Good experience?   I ordered our booze for our cabin with Bon Voyage but didn't order any mixers.  Do most people bring their own mixes and if so, can you put it in your checked bags or do you need to carry on?  I don't even know if it is allowed to bring soda, mix and water on board.

you can bring a small amount of soda pop or water on board, I am thinking a 6 pack or so.  You can buy a soda pop card, which give one person unlimited soda pop one glass at a time.
