Re: Favorite Cruise Director - MS ECSTASY Former Cruise Social Host

    John Heald,

Well I give from different angle in that I worked as a social host aboard the MS Ecstasy and wrote a book about my life on the ship (Permanent Passenger: My Life on a Cruise Ship  -  www.permanentpassenger.com)

He is very funny and loves what he does and a joy to work for. I write quite about him in my book, he is a showman but puts on a great show.

I saw a few others but John really is one of a a kind and his blog is a testament to it.

    Cheers

    The Girlfriends:

So, far, I've gotta go with Malcom (Imagination, Christmas '06). He's a giant (really about 6'6") riot. He'd be one of Carnival's Kings of Comedy, if they had such a position.

Close second, would be Brent (Miracle, Thanksgiving '07). He's pretty cool and thinks fast on his feet.

Yes, Malcom Burns was the best.. I have been on Victory twice and he was the CD...

I rarely pay much attention to the cruise directors (except the ones that I find annoying!), but did like Rissa.  She was on the Inspiration in November.  Very good.

    Re: Favorite Cruise Director

I have only been on one cruise, so far.  However, I must say that Big Tex, or "Tex" since his weight loss, was a great guy. We had the opportunity to have him as C.D. on FANTASY last Feb. Very funny and entertaining!  I especially enjoyed his explanation as to how he took the weight off by dancing and through excercise.  Some of his workout routines, such as the "lawnmower" and "shopping" etc. were hillarious!  He seemed to have a presence on the ship, and was always making sure people were having FUN!

Now in Aug. '09 will cruise on the HOLIDAY, and Jan. '10 on the SPLENDOR, followed by a Sept. '10 on the FREEDOM and I will have some others to compare Tex to.

Can hardly wait to start planning 2011!!!.

    takenthekidsthistime:

We just returned from the Fantasy and thought Big Tex was great.  He was funny and very helpful, always keeping you informed via his "tex" messages.  We were on the Celebration in 01 and I forget who our CD was, but he was funny as well, just not as good as Big Tex.

When did you go, because I thought Tex left the Fantasy a few months ago.

I don't have a favorite since I haven't actually gone on a cruise yet. I read John Heald's blog and think he is hillarious, but I really want to know more about the CD we will have in Sept. We will have Kevin Noonan.

    April

Enjoyed my first cruise, desperately trying to book another...
