    Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau

Hello everyon!  I just wanted to report on my wonderful adventure at Atlantis waterpark!  It was out of this world!  We had the best time.  Here is a quick summary of our day.

We arrived at port around 11:00 a.m.  We were off the ship and in a taxi by 11:30!  We arrived at Comfort Suites by 12:00 noon.  We checked in at the front desk and to our great luck our rooms were ready! Oh yeah, our room rate had dropped and it was only $167 for 2 adults and 1 child.   We did a mad dash to our rooms to change into our swimsuits.  No need to take towels from the ship, they furnish them @Atlantis.  We walked to Atlantis, just a short trip around 5-10 mins.  We stopped to take pictures of the harbor.  (We took our thermal cooler that had our canned drinks and sandwiches in them.  We ordered room  service, peanutbutter & jelly worked the best. The ham and turkey got kind of mushy.   We put them in our sandwich baggies that we had brought from home.)  We dropped them off in lockers that we rented for $5 for the day.   We found a towel hut to get our wristbands.  Just show them the card you get from checkin. They will only give you 4 wristbands per room.   You also can get towels throughtout the park.  Anytime you need a clean or dry one.  Just walk up and ask for one.   All of the water slides are somewhat together.  We had to walk up alot of steps but it was so worth it!   The only downer to it was that the slides and beaches closed at 6:00 p.m.  We carried our snorkels and masks and saw some awesome marine life in the ocean.

I would suggest carring your lunch and drinks and any other snacks that you might want.  Atlantis is so expensive.  A hamburger lunch is $19.00.  We carried all of ours.  We only spent the cost of the room and $5 for the locker.  It may seem alot to some but it is way cheaper than purchasing an excursion from the ship.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.  I know I probaby skipped some key items.    I would recommend this to everyone.  We are thinking about taking a trip just to stay at Comfort Suites in Dec. for Christmas!  loved it!

     Gaylebo35,

Thanks for all your information! We are cruising on June1 on the Sensation and wanted to do the Atlantis excursion. I booked a room @ Comfort suites also. My kids will be very HAPPY to know that we are going to go to Atlantis!!!  You are right MUCH CHEAPER, would have been over $400 for us to book through Carnival and the room was $160!!! Thanks again!!!!

I have to disagree with you!  Every little bit we saved helped!  If we did not book the room, it would have been $105 per person, (excursion from Carnival) that comes to $420.  Where as we only paid $167 for 4 people by us renting a room so we could have all access to Atlantis!!!!!  I don't care how much it costs, I myself cold not justify spending $20 for a hamburger meal.  So my friend, it's called cutting back and saving a little, that's how we are able to cruise twice a year.  Save where we can!!!!!

hey there, thanks for all the helpful info. this will be our 3rd cruise. we are excited. but the last time we cruised we booked excursions through carnival which was great but a little costly. so let me get this correct. even traveling by cruise you can still book a overnight stay in a hotel? there is no special checkin time back on the ship every evening? and booking a hotel near or on atlantis island gives you free access to the parks, beaches, shopping area and casinos? how did you get from the ship to the hotel? cost?

Hi gaylebo35, So are you saying that in order to use the facilities i will need to get a hotel room? Will I not be able to tour Atlantis without an the room or an excursion?

    Hi Sassy!

You can purchase a shore excursion for Atlantis from your ship or you can even go to Atlantis and hope they have some day passes that you may purchase (if they are available.)  The reason I booked a room because it was CHEAPER for us.  If you book at room at comfort Suites right on the same property as Atlantis, you will get up to 4 wrist bands to have all access to Atlantis and it's grounds (water park and aquarium, etc.)  Plus, this will allow you to have a room to change into when you finish at the water park.  Any more questions, just feel free to ask.  Gayle

Hi there...what a great idea!!  We're cruising out of Port Canaveral July 19th and our first stop is Nassau - we really want to do Atlantis and I never would have thought of doing it this way!  Of course, we're only docked from 8:30 to 2 so we'd only have a couple of hours there but it would be totally worth it for under $200 bucks.  How much was the taxi ride?  Are there taxi's readily available right at the port?  Um, I think that's all the questions I have for now...but thanks for the awesome idea and any other info!!!

Hi Gayle.  Great idea about the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!  I think we will try that too.  Quick question though...  How big were the lockers that you rented for $5 for the day?  Were they big enough that you could fit a small, collapsable cooler into them?  I'm also trying to get an idea of what all I would be able to fit in there.  Any help would be great!  Thanks!!

I suppose you could spend the night off the ship but it just depends on what time the ship leaves port.  Taxi's were everywhere and only cost $4 per person.  If you tell them you are going to Comfort Suites, they will drop you off there instead of Atlantis.  They have lockers available there for $5 (small) $7 (med) $10 (large).  We rented small ones because there were 3 families and we all combined our stuff!  You can fit a small (6 can) collaspable cooler in there with a small thermal cooler.  We stored our flip flops in there, our small  backpacks (cinch sacks) and our video cameras.  You can always get a larger one for $10.  It would fit everything that you would need to keep in there.  Don't forget, we left most of our things in the room @ Comfort Suites.  We checked in and changed in our rooms then took only the necessary items with us to Atlantis.  Also remember that you do not need towels.  Atlantis furnishes them @ the towel hut where you get your wrist bands for the water park.  Any more questions, feel free to ask!  Like I said before, it was worth it to my family.  My mother in law (in her 60's) is still talking about going down the leap of faith water slide.  (The one that has the sharks below it. It only takes you 3 secs. to get down.)  Have fun everyone!!!!!!!!!

I think that this is a great idea, but I see that check-in is at 3pm.  Did you request early check-in?  The ship arrives Nassau at 8am.  Do you think a room would be available that early?  If not, does the hotel suggest that you can leave your items somewhere until a room is available?  Thanks!

    Hey Gayle,

Great idea for Atlantis! I booked a room for our October cruise but have a couple of questions. When you check in at the hotel if the room isn't ready can you get the passes for the park anyway? When do you check out of the hotel? I mean if its the same day as check in doesn't the staff find that odd? Don't get me wrong I couldn't care less what the staff thinks since I'll be saving $400 doing it this way. Just curious about the little details.

    Thanks

    Krista
