    REEF CLUB BEACH RESORT

Can anyone tell me about this resort and HOW you booked it?

    Carnival site excursion is $77

Description: Relax in VIP style and make the most of your vacation on this all inclusive resort beach break with open bar, lunch and optional downtown drop off.

    On this excursion you will:

    • Take a 40 minutes bus ride from the pier to the warm sands of the Reef Club Beach Resort.
    • Escape the everyday with approximately 2.5 hours of beachfront luxury in the Mexican sun.
    • Lounge by the pool, walk along the ocean and sip a margarita in a hammock.
    • Have access to the poolside bar, long stretch of beach, lounge chairs, umbrellas, showers, volleyball and spectacular beach club for kids.
    • Enjoy an unlimited open bar featuring beer and domestic drinks as well as water and sodas.
    • Eat traditional Yucatecan snacks under the Mayan palapa, including: Empanadas, Gorditas, salsa and more.
    • Head back to the pier, with an optional drop off at the local marketplace in downtown Progresso.
    • Experience the sights and sounds of Mexico as you explore the colorful stores of local artisans and shop for traditional Mexican handicrafts.
    • Browse at your leisure and then return to the ship by taxi.

This same excursion is offered through AutoProgreso (www.autoprogreso.com) it just states that the food and drink are included.  This tour is $45. - $32 per person cheaper.

If you booked through AutoProgreso how long were you at the resort?

Sea, you might want to correct your link.  One too many s's takes you to some non-english automotive site... something to do with Mobil oil.

Thanks for the link, I haven't seen this site yet!

    Re: REEF CLUB BEACH RESORT

My husband and I are planning to do this also.  I sent an email to Auto Progreso but no response yet.  Other responses I have found say they are located right at the pier so I am hoping that is the case because the price is a lot cheaper then what Carnival is advertsiing.

They are right there after you go through the Duty Free Shop (which you have to go through to get to the buses).

I am also having problems with getting a reply from AutoProgreso. Is there package the same as Carnival or is it the SAME tour company?

we did this excursion end of may this year.  they are at the end of the pier where teh bus lets you off... you cant miss them.  their price was $45 per person, and that includes the bus to and from the resort.  much cheaper than carnival, and the same excursion.  and they take you right back to the boat.  reef club is BEAUTIFUL!  you will have a great time!

It is EXACTLY the same.  I contacted AutoProgreso just before our April cruise and they told me it was the Reef Club and then when we got onboard they (the shore excursion deck) had brochures and it was the Reef Club.  FInger foods, drinks ad transport for both.  Save yourself the money and go through AP.

Let me add - that most likely AutoProgreso is providing the transport for Carnival because they seemed to be the only game in time (as far as large buses).  Carnival is charging more in order to get their cut.  $20+ is a lot of profit on each person.

Yeah, it is almost $100 cheaper for my family by going that direction. Thanks for the input.

I will do that. Do you know if AP sells advanced-sales excursions or just buy them on the pier? Thanks for the help...just saved me $96!

    Re: REEF CLUB BEACH RESORT

I had emailed AP bout a mo b4 we arrived.  I kept a copy of the reply and the guy remembered me(go figure).  we paid right at the dock.  the bus was only half full, many people had just wandered up to the stand without prior arrangements.  they will tell you the time for return.  they also offer an optional run to some nearby ruins, but we opted to just stay at the reef club and enjoy.  sometimes, it's safer to go with carnival excursions, but this one was very safe, and cheaper! (hint, if the waiter brings you drinks out to your beach chair, they are kinda weak. but if you go up to the beach bar yourself and tip a dollar or 2, the drinks are MUCH better, wink, wink)

You don;t need to book in advance - they are right there as you walk out of the duty free shop (only way to get to the shuttle buses that take you to town).  There appears to be no limit on how many people they take.  I may email them back to find out how often the bus leaves the pier.  I would hate to have to wait too long before departing.
