    Re: scared!

I have been on 4 cruises and never witnessed or heard of any crime at all.  I am sure there must be some but they do a good job of making you feel safe.

I have been told by servers they consider these to be very good jobs.  They are able to save and send money home.  One waiter told us one more year and he would be able to go home and by a rice importing business.  He was so excited.

And I have been on the Riviera deck (lowest passenger deck) and felt much less motion than I have on higher decks.

You need to relax and enjoy this amazing vacation!

    Re: scared!

Don't be scared! I have cruised since I was a teenager and haven't had one instance that reduced my feeling of safety.  The worker's really work hard that is a fact. However, many times, they are on a ship for several months at a time (6, 8 or 9 for example) but then have 6-8 weeks off. They probably get more time off than we do. The cruise lines are not a form of slavery. As some have said previously, many of the workers come to the cruise line to send back money to their families. The work that they do for the cruise line is probably not as labor intensive as they would be used to if they had stayed at home, if work was available.

There really isn't a "bad" deck, so I wouldn't be worried about that either. Your room is just a little further away from the "action" than others. You get the same service as everyone else and as for ship movement, the middle of the ship tends to be the best place in rough waters. But there again, I wouldn't worry unless someone in your party gets sick or nauseated. Then you have the option of going to the ship's doctor.

Have fun and enjoy your cruise! It is one of the best ways to vacation out there.
