We are gonna stay at SpringHill Suites in Dania. It is a Marriott owned property. They have free pick up from FLL and a free shuttle to Port Everglades. They also give you a free breakfast. We are staying on 06/05/09 and our rate is $84 a night for a room with a king sized bed.

We stayed at the Airport Holiday Inn after our last cruise for a night.  It was nice and had a great pool.  But, it's literally in the middle of nowhere so you will need to take a taxi if you want to head out.  The rate is cheap and they had a free shuttle to the airport.

The Shearton Airport hotel is also nice but a bit more expensive.  That too is in not near anything.  Any hotel that is near the beach or the shopping will cost you more and sometimes a lot more but you can always take a taxi to get there if you want.

You didn't say when you are traveling.  Winter months are expensive.  We are traveling in Jan2010 and I booked through Hotwire for $90/ night.  It has a free shuttle from airport and Iread from comments somewhere that they also had free cruiseport shuttle.  The hotel is Hyatt Place and the price on their website is over $200 for the same time.

    Hope this helps!

I don't want to sound to stupid but I'm a bit skeptical about hotwire...Which one did you choose to end up at the Hyatt and which Hyatt did you get....

I used Priceline and got the Hyatt Ft. Lauderdale Airport North for $90.00 plus tax.  The room on the web is $227.00 plus tax.  Free shuttle to and from the airport and cruise port.

You can narrow the search by choosing the airport area.  I'm booked for February 2010.

Never had a problem with Priceline or Expedia!

I booked the one that said Las Olas, downtown, port Everglades.  i had looked in Google and somenone said it was The Hyatt Place on 10th st.  I booked it and that is what came up.  I used Hotwire a few years ago and booked a 4 star resort for $50/night and was very pleased.

Having lived in Ft. Lauderdale my whole life, I can tell you that Port Everglades is off of 17th Street Causeway on the Inter-Coastal.  So you might want to stay in that area just because if locale. I know the Embassy Suites is really nice (although personally I think a little gaudy after renovation).  But it is VERY close to the port, with free shuttle and I believe they offer 'cruise packages' with guests.Lots of nightlife there too.  Carlos and Peppy's Mexican, Bimini Boatyard, great places.

    Billy,

I wanted to stay close to Port Everglades and originally made reservations at the Embassy Suites and I cancelled them when I found a better deal at the Hyatt Pier 66 (half the price). My question is, do you know if the Sun Trolley goes by there?  I've tried to look it up on their website but I can't tell.  I wanted to go to Las Olas and don't know what is the best way to get there.  I think the water taxi has a stop at the hotel but I think its a little pricey, but it may be worth it, I'm not sure.  Since you live there, what are your thoughts.

    Diane
