    Tabyana Beach

I am planning a trip on the Valor 4/08.  On our stop at Roatan I had heard that Tabyana beach was very nice.  The shore excursion offering this appears that you can only stay for one hour.  Is this true?  Has anyone gone on this excursion in the past.  Does anyone have any better suggestions.  We like the beach and I love to snorkel.

It is a wonderful beach - we had a blast!  You can snorkel right from the beach and we could actually hear the fish nipping at the coral!  While it is listed as 1 hour in duration, it is not accurate.  There are buses arriving and leaving all day and you simply catch a bus when you are ready to leave.  Enjoy the beach - it really was so beautiful - we are going back in August.

    Hello Bustediron,

We did the Tabyana Beach excursion and it was real nice. It is about a 40 minute ride to and from where you dock so you have to figure that into the time you must be back onboard. The other couple are snorkelers and they said that was the best fish watching that they had done with just walking off the beach and into the water. I thought when we were there last that we were on the beach at least 2 hours or so. The add shows there is no time limit on the excursion that its at your leisure.

    On this excursion you will:

    • Have access to private sun loungers, fresh water showers with changing/restroom facilities, and a local gift shop, bar.
    • Enjoy the sounds of great Caribbean music.
    • Snorkel in the inviting Caribbean waters and see the stunning, unspoiled coral.
    • Take part in a friendly game of volleyball followed by a cool glass of iced tea or homemade lemonade.
    • Take a walk along the beach, or just lay in the sun.

Notes: Snorkel equipment can be rented onboard.

An approximate 30-minute bus ride takes you to the beach with return transportation departing the beach every ½ hour.

    Hi Bustediron,

I went to Tabayana when we stopped there last October on the Legend. Tabayana was the most awesome place! We just caught a taxi at the cruise pier over to Tabayana and it was only $10 per person round trip. We were one of the first people on the beach and we spent the whole day there. We enjoyed everything you would get on the excursion but we were on our own. You don't even pay your taxi driver until he picks you up and gets you back to the ship!! It was the best port I've been to and you will love snorkeling off the beach. The reef is absolutely gorgeous!!! Enjoy your cruise.

    Happy Sailing!!

Honduras - OMG, Why would you take people to a island that had so much poverty, people peeing in the street, no clothes, dirt houses, livestock walking through there houses. It was very sad, not a way to start off a "fun" excursion

OVERALL - The cruise was aweful, we will never cruise with Carnival again. Beware once they have your money they dont care anymore..

Ignore guyashleigh, obviously they did not have a fun cruise, but they are making false statements all over the message boards, so please disregard them. If you want to go to one of the last non commercialized ports left, Honduras is the place to go. It's got beautiful scenery, beaches and awesome people.

    Happy Sailing!!

Peeing in the streets, no clothes, live stock walking around houses you can see that anywhere here in the U.S.A. If you sail out of Miami don't look out your window while going through the homless section because you will see peeing in the streets a lot. In my 25 years in police work I saw those things every night. I guess you can say we are lucky that we live here in the U.S.A. where we have the opportunity to live a better life.

Hey there - we are leaving for a cruise on Sunday and want to visit Tanyana beach - we are thinking of taking a taxi .... did you have to pay to attend the beach?  I've heard from someone else that there was a charge of $25.  Please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hello Morrisons,

We have been to Tabyana beach but only through the excursions offered by carnival. I seem to remember $30-$35 for a price range. I have not lucky to find someone who just took a local cab and just went to beach by yourself. If you do just make sure you set a return taxi so you don't miss the ship.

    Re: Tabyana Beach

    Hi there,

We took a taxi over to Tabayana and it was $5.00 per person each way. $10.00 round trip. There were 6 in our group and he dropped us off right at the beach, and we told him what time to pick us up. He was there to pick us up right on time and we didn't pay him until he dropped us back off at the ship. The beach was awesome and it was the best day of the cruise. There was NO charge to get on the beach. There was a place to buy food, drinks, rent se kayaks..... etc. We took a sea kayak ($20.00 for an hour) and paddled out to the reef. It was gorgeous!! The water was so clear and you can see right down to the bottom. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Enjoy!!!

    Happy Sailing!!

Does everyone have access to the private sun lounges or just the people that booked through Carnival?

    Re: Tabyana Beach

    Hi Heidi,

I personally didn't see any sun lounges on the part of the beach I was on. I'm sure there are some though. I didn't book through Carnival and we just took out towels and laid out on them. If you book through Carnival, there is probably an area where they drop you off that does include the lounges. Either way, it was awesome! Enjoy your cruise

    Hello

I was just wondering, If you take a cab on your own to get to this beach, what do you do with your personal belongings while you are swimming? Are there locker rentals or something?
