Last cruise out of Jacksonville, April 14, Celebration

Anyone out there going on the last cruise out of J'ville on the Celebration?  There are 6 adults and 1 *** going.  We've sailed on the Celebration before and even though it's older, we still loved it.

We also are looking for something else to do beside shop in Nassau.  Any suggestions on excursions at Nassau?

I will be there! I am nervous to go on this cruise because the reviews are horrible.

The staff and ship are very nice.  The ship is a little old but when were on it, it was clean and the food was excellent.  Yes, it is a little bit smaller of the other ships but I like that.  There aren't as many people on there plus you don't have to wait in all of those long lines like on the other bigger ships.  How many are going with you?  There are 7 total of us.  3 couples and 1 child.

There will be just my husband and I.  Going on my honeymoon after 14 years.  Not bringing my children.

You will love it!  To us, it's just the right size ship.  The food has always been great when we've been on it.  The staff are great.  Hope to meet ya'll on board!

Tallbunch...The Celebration was number 6 cruise on Carnival for us. Yes, she is a little dated but by far we had the best food and best service ever.  Don't be nervous.  I would venture to say that those complaining have a lot of experience with large luxury ships.  She is for having a good time.

Hello tallbunch! My family and I were also nervous because of what we read before sailing. We went into the cruise expecting a smaller and a little worn out ship so when we got onboard we were not shocked like others were.  The ship does show its age in spots through out the ship but we didn't let that stop us from having fun. The week we cruised the service and food were both great. There is even a trolley car inside the ship serving sushi

My wife and I will be on the April 14 sailing also.  We have been on the Celebration eight times and have always had a great time.  She's an old ship, but it has always been clean when we were cruising. And the service has been top notch.

    See everyone in 61 days!

Re: Last cruise out of Jacksonville, April 14, Celebration

Those of you who've sailed on the Celebration before, can you tell us more about the food choices?  We sailed last time on the Imagination, which is also an older ship (although not as old as this one), so I'm guessing the ship's age won't be a shock as long as it is clean.  But the internet is full of people complaining about poor food choices in the buffet line on this ship, and my daughter sailed on this ship a year ago and said all room service food was cold food (sandwiches).  On the Imagination the buffet had hamburgers and hot dogs, but also a themed menu that changed daily (Italian food one day, Mexican the next ,etc).  Is there a deli?  Pizza counter?  a buffet with something other than hamburgers and hot dogs?

We are booked on this ship for Mar 31 and for the first time we're sailing with a 4-year old, so we're a little concerned about finding things a picky child will eat.

Re: Last cruise out of Jacksonville, April 14, Celebration

They do have a sandwich bar and themed food daily on the buffet.  The only issue I've ever had on Celebration is that the steaks at dinner weren't very good.  Rule of thumb is that Filet Mignon shouldn't have gistle.

You'll enjoy the personable service on Celebration.  I'm sad that I'll never sail on that ship again.

When we were on the Celebration, the food was good.  The breakfast buffet was good, too.  The lunches were like any other buffet that you would go to in town.  There was always fruit, pizza and don't forget ice cream!!!!  When we ordered room service it was good.  We ordered fruit bowls and desserts mostly.  The staff on the Celebration was wonderful.  We are cruising on the last sailing April 14th.   Our food in the dining room was excellent.  We had pasta, shrimp, steak and chicken!  We liked it all!  Don't forget for dessert, the chocolate warming melting cake!!!!!!  It is fabulous!!!!!!!!   Have a great cruise!!!!!!

    Hello Beachlover,

I sailed on the Celebration in Aug--2007 for 5 days. The food selection was like you said the usual food choices that changed daily. The food was good the 5 days I was on the ship. I hope they still have the trolley open serving sushi. If you like sushi its smaller than some but what they served was very tasty. It is included with your food on the ship. The trolley did have saki but that was an extra fee. I have 4 kids and they took friends and none of them went hungry. If the buffet line didn't have their liking they went to the pizza stand or burger stand

We have never had a good Lobster Tail on a cruise and on the Celebration it was exceptional.  My husband also enjoyed the Prime Rib.  My daughter had the veal which was fantastic and I don't even like veal!
