If you're into snorkeling, take the cruise excursion to the Lagoon and Sea Turtle Sanctuary.  We did this last year - it's a longer snorkling trip than normal and it costs more, but BOY was it worth it!!  Carlos and the other 2 guides actually went in the water with us at both places.  They had waterproof underwater books with fish pictures so they could point out to us what we were seeing.  We stayed at the lagoon for about 45 minutes, then got on the bus and headed to Akumal where the sea turtle bay is.  There we snorkled for about another hour (or you could just hang out on the beach).  After that, we stayed for about another hour at the little beachside cantina and had lunch and drinks and then it was back to the ship.  BTW, they provided bottled water, so don't waste your $$ on the bottles they try to sell you as you get off the ship.

There is lots to do in Playa Del Carmen.  Calica is actually nothing more than the port in a rock quary, so you'll take a bus or taxi into town.

Personally my favorite there is the Jeep excursion, where you drive the jeep to a beach for a lunch and swimming, the go snorkeling in the underground caverns.  That is a once in a lifetime experience.

We have done a great Catamaran snorkeling tour when we were in Calica.  We booked it on Playa Del Carmen and Calica Cruise Excursions Absolutely amazing.  Great snorkeling  and great food.  The catamaran was excellent.

We are cruising in April of this year and is looking into the excursion of
Calica/ Playa Del Carmen All Inclusive Resort Day Pass.  Has anyone been there and what do you think of it? Thanks, Sheila

We choose this cruise for this port. not that it is a great place to get off the ship, but it is what is beyond it.  Far better than Progresso!!  I'm excited and can't wait to get there.

I heard that they have really built this port up in the past few years and that there is more to do that the ruins now.  What IS there to do?

    Thanks!
