    Costa Maya beach?

Hi there. I'm going to Costa Maya next May and I wanted to hear some advice about the beach. I love beautiful beaches, and also love to snorkle. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the perfect beach to enjoy clear crystal waters and also snorkle. Thank you!

there is a beautiful beach at the 'fishing village', majahaul, that you can get to by cab for $3. crystal clear waters, and plenty of bars, watersports, and banana boat rides.the cabs are lined up behind the shopping area at the port.

We cruised on Carnival Glory in November 2006 and one of our ports was Costa Maya.  A lot of the port offer an excursion that lets you spend the day at one of the beaches.  Going on a recommendation from a friend who also took this cruise the month prior to us, we decided to book the beach excursion.  You ride on a bus across the island to a private beach with sugar white sand and enjoy the sun or shade under the palms whichever you prefer...there is snorkling for like $5.00, free paddle boats, and other free stuff to do too. Then there is massages that of course aren't free, and a little shop/stand where the locals sell stuff.  We even walked to the end of the pier to see the people who were doing the "swim with the dolphin" excursion and took pictures of them!  My husband thinks the best part about this excursion was the FREE open bar.  There is no limit and there was quite a variety.  My friend did the same excursion in Belize but she said the beach was rocky and not as nice and the bar was not free.  Hope this helps.

I'll be cruising August 11th aboard Carnvial Glory and one of my port will be Costa Maya.  I'm looking for a beach just like that, can you tell me a name or tell me what the bus looks like.  That sounds like you had a great time!

    Re: Costa Maya beach?

We went on the Carnival Glory in January.  One of the best excursions we took was in Costa Maya.  It starts with a bus ride from the port.  Takes about 1/2 hour to get to the private beach where we boarded a 2 person boat and followed a guide out to a platform out by the reef.  The guide took us around the reef pointing out things like starfish and different types of coral.  The water was fairly shallow and crystal clear.  The reef protected us from most of the force of the waves.  We were able to stop periodically and stand on the sandy bottom to rest. We saw many species of fish.  The best part was seeing 6 squid swimming in formation.

With the open bar, good food, great service, and amenities (clean restrooms, gift shop, lounging chairs, waverunners, kayaks, and friendly people all part of the initial proce) this was the best excursion my wife and I took on this cruise.  I recommend it for anyone looking for a great time.

Is this the same as the Jungle Beach Break from Carnival Glory?
