Snorkeling on the Mexican Riviera

This question has been posted back in 08,but I'm going to ask again.

We are on the Splendor in Jan 10'. We want to go snorkeling but we have heard that the water is not near as clear as in the Caribbean and that there are strong currents to fight.

Anyone snorkeled at any of the three ports and how was it?

Any info would be appreciated

Has anyone been to the Mexican Riviera this time of year.DW and I went in aug. of 07 and it was hot no need for a sweater day or nite. But going in Nov. this time and we are bringing my mom and she sometimes gets cold was thinking she should bring a sweater or lite jacket. Does anyone have some input on this?

Has anyone been on the Mexican Riviera cruise in September???? All of the sites that I have looked at online have all stated that September is the rainy month for this cruise. Is this true??? Any feedback would be so appreciated. I might just have to change my cruise date if this is the case. We leave on the 13th of September and will totally change our cruise to August if it helps our weather situation. :)

Ship time

Does anyone know what the difference between ship time and Mexico time will be on the Mexican Riveiera cruise ? We are going on the southern route, Acapulco, Manzanillo, Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa. It looks like that area is two hours ahead of SanDiego time where we depart from. However, is ship time also San Diego time? The times listed for each port are based on ship time, right. We are trying to book a private excursion, but want to be sure that we don't miss the ship.

Newbie with questions re: excursions & kids

Hi Veteran Cruisers,

My family and I will be cruising for the very first time on the Pride on 8/24. The kids (4yo and 7yo) are counting down the days! We are planning on the following shore excursions: PV-Mismaloya Resort Getaway; Mazatlan Shopping, Beach & Lunch; and the Cabo Dolphins for Kids. I'd appreciate any help with the following questions:

1. The weather will be HOT and HUMID. I'm concerned for the kids. They really want to spend time "building sand castles" but I was wondering if the heat would be too prohibitive for spending time on the beach???

2. Are the PV and Mazatlan excursions worth it for kids? Would it be better/cheaper just to take a taxi to the beach since that's what the kids really want to do? Do most of the beaches have umbrellas for public use? How are the public bathrooms near the beaches? One of the reasons why I'm considering the above excursions is because there's access to the resorts/beaches and all the necessary amenities.

3. For those who have been in the Mexican Riviera with kids during August, how was it for the kids?

Our 2nd cruise and we can't wait!! Sailing with myself, husband and daughter(will be 15 at time of cruise). Our 1st cruise was in 2005 with our family of 5 (2 boys now 21 & 19 will not be on this trip) on the Paradise out of Long Beach. We had no problems at all. We all had a great time!!

Looking for some girls to hang out with our daughter on ship and maybe in some ports. She really wants to do the dolphin swim in Cabo. Any thoughts on this excursion?? Worth doing?? We were also thinking about snorkeling in either Cabo or La Paz?? Whats the water temp?? Cool??? Not crazy about cold water.

This is our 1st cruise with a baloncy room. We are on the Upper deck?? Any thoughts on this floor??

I also have celiac which is a wheat allergy. Does anyone else have this problem and how did you handle the food situation?? I have notified Carnival with my restrictions, but wanted to see how others dealt with it.

does anyone know if all the drug cartels killings in mexico is making it not a safe port of call for cruise-goers? Cabo , Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta are my stops on a 7day cruise . . should I reconsider going on this cruise? The violence in mexico right now is scaring me.

i need som eimput from expereinced mex riv. cruisers and i know this is the plasce to egt it. i am tryin gto decide on some excursions. heres the deal. i would like to snorkle and kayak but am not sure what is the besy way to go about it. thre is the clear bottom kayak & snorkle tour in cabo but i am not sure it has you snorkling at the best spot to snorkle in cabo. there is also the deel island nature presure & kayak tour in maz. sound good but no snorkling. the other possibility os the yelapa beach snorkle adventure. also no kayaking involved. i was thinking aboout just buying some snorkle gear to bring with me and then snorkling on my own in cabo. maybe just getting a boat and driver to drop us somewhere. so i could really use some feed back.

How many ports on the 7-day Pride cruise use tenderss to get to shore? I usa a walker & my parents are aging (as are a lot of the people we are cruising with) & I'd hate to book an excursion we can't get to!

How are the snorkeling excursions in Cozumel?

We have snorkeled in Cozumel before but off of a beach where we stayed. We also snorkeled extensively in Grand Cayman, that was AWESOME but I do know snorkeling is good at Cozumel as well.

This time we want to go on a reef trip excursion. How are they? Which ones are good that someone can recommend?

Shore Excursion timing question

Does booking an excursion half an hr after the docking time guarantee you leaving earlier from the ship in order to make it on time? I booked a city tour of Mazatlan and the excursion meeting time is half an hr after the ships docking time.

We will be on the Carnival Pride, Mexican Riviera, sailing May 25 for a week. What excursions are good? Last time we cruised we attended the info meeting the night before on the ship and created our own excursion. This way we were not limited.

We have 3 couples going on the PRIDE leaving 6-1-08. This is the second time we have taken this trip on Carnival. I think we are leaving just before school lets out so it should be mostly adults but plan to have fun no matter what. We are going on the Zipline on Puerto Vallarta and snorkling in Mazatlan. We will be going on a family cruise with a 4yo, 2yo and a baby. We are looking into the excursions and are wondering what we need as far as carseats for ground transportation. Do we need to bring our own carseats or are they provided or do with just go without? I'm sure the Mexican laws aren't as strict and if we are using public transportation, maybe you just go without carseats. Also, what are some recommended excursions? We are looking into the water park and maybe possibly going to a beach at another stop. Could we just get a taxi to a beach and can you recommend a beach?

We will be sailing 1/20/08 on the Carnival Pride. Does anyone have any experience with the shore excursion (P.Vallarta, Caba, Mazatlan) or how the weather and water temps are in these ports in January?
