Since it is about 30 min. to course, taxis don't want to go that far. So if you do, book through ship, it is easier and about the same. Catalina? Book that yourself, a short walk from the ship.

Re: Playing Golf in Ensenada

My husband and I are crusing on the Elation April 19th and are planning to play golf at the Bajamar course. According to the website and some reviews - it is beautiful and has been compared to Pebble Beach. I don't know about that (we live a few hours from there) but the Oceano Course is right on the ocean so it's got to be awesome. Check out the website www.golfbajamar.com and see if that will answer some questions you have. We are a little concerned about safety. When are you going in April?

Re: Playing Golf in Ensenada

Thanks for the info. I thought there was only 1 course - Baja Mar - that was a shore excursion from the ship. Could you rent clubs there? And how was the course itself? Muni or more upscale? Price? How/when did you make your tee time? Thanks for any more info you may have. We are going in April and playing a round of golf is definitely on my horizon.

Playing Golf in Ensenada

We had a great day playing golf just outside of Ensenada at a place called Baja Country Club.

It has a beautiful course set in a big Canyon with lots of lakes and great scenery. We caught a cab there and back but you could probably more easily rent a car and drive out yourself - its about 20-30 minutes from the Cruise Ship Terminal. We stopped at the beach at Estero on the way back for a swim which is a few miles down the road from the course. It was a nicer alternative to walking the town in the heat.

There's a club house there with a bar and restaurant that does nice food. All in all a nice side trip.
