Hi, we are 7 people so i try to saved money.

we like to go atlantis beach day but cost around 600 dollars for all 7, but i see a public beach for 40 dollars pp. anybody know what public beach they take you , is clean water, etc??????? is our first cruise and first time in bahamas. thank you

Snorkeling at Atlantis

I know that Atlantis has a snorkeling tour they take you on but I just read that you can snorkel right at the property in their protected lagoon. Wondering if anyone has done this and if there is a charge to use the lagoon?

Has anybody done this..... am I reading right that your are able to do the big water slide there. I was told the only way to do that was to book a night at the resort. Any info would be great my boyfriend would love to do this after watching amazing race (they had the same slide) It sould be a wonderful surprise for his birthday that day.

Aquarium tour of Atlantis

Since my daughter is only 2 years old, we plan to only take a aquarium tour of Atlantis in Dec. I used to see a Discover tour of Atlantis offered on Atlantis web site, but could not find it any more. Do they still offer Discover tour in Atlantis any more? Also I heard some people mentioned they just take a free tour of Atlantis. Does anyone know the difference between the free tour and paid Discover tour of Atlantis?

Wyndham Hotel vs. public beach

Has anyone taken advantage of the Wyndham Hotel day pass? I called the hotel, it's $40.00 for the day pass and you can use the Sheraton next door also. I wondered how it was.

If you were going to just go to a public beach which is the best one to go to?

Comfort Suites..Atlantis Access..wristband question??

Hello all..I was wondering if any of you who have booked the room through Comfort Suites for Atlantis access can offer some assistance. I am curious if when you check into the Comfort Suites, do they check to see who is actually staying in the room ie. adults/children? Or do the wristbands or whatever they give you to gain access show specifically how many adults or how many children or do they just give you access based on the headcount in the room? In short, I noticed its quite cheaper to book 2 adults & 2 children versus booking for 4 adults. I know its still cheaper then booking through Carnival, but of course anyway to save is better. If they just go by headcount, then we'll just take the 2 adults in ( 1 per room) for the room and get the passes and off we go. Any info anyone can provide for this would be greatly appreciated. We leave 10/11 so I plan on booking soon.

What to plan for Nassau

We are going on the Pride on Nov 1st to Nassau and Freeport.

Here is what we are planning to do.

I and my 10-year old will go for a 3.5 hours Carnival Offered Catamaran Reef and Snorkeling adventure (adults $49, Child $39) whereas my wife and the little one will probably go for 1.5 Hours Carnival offered Glass Bottom Boat excursion (adults $35, Child $36).

In the extra time, we want to visit the paradise island (take a private cab) and see Atlantis casino (that should be free, right?). If there is still some time left in the evening, we want to hang out at the Straw market near the cruise port and do some shopping without risking the return time for the ship.

One issue is trying to meet up with my wife and younger son after our respective adventures to do the Atlantis visit together. Without the cell phones, in a new country, this may prove to be an impossible task.

I also wanted to do some Jet Skiing with my 10-year old but trying to pack too much will be stressful instead of being fun. What do you guys think of this plan?

Also, does it make any financial difference if I bought this Carnival excursions before leaving from home or once on board?

Hello During thanksgiving week, Ill be cruising on the pride. My question is when we hit Nassau does atlantis charge a fee or charge to get into the resort if we decide not to book any excursions through here on carnival? has any one ever went to atlantis without booking any excursions? instead of paying like 80 bucks for the atlantis beach day or 155 bucks per person for the atlantis water slide

We're going on our first cruise May 29, 2010 to the Bahamas. We are sailing on the Fascination. We will be stopping at Half Moon Cay and Nassau. We've been looking at different shore excursions, and thought we might take the historical tour. I would love to hear from others who have taken this excursion and get their feedback on it. We're also going to the Atlantis to see the aquarium and maybe go to the beach while we're there. My question is should we book it through Carnival, or just wait till we get there and pay for the aquarium tour, and pay to go to their beach, or is their a public beach near by? Thanks, Angie

Found a great tour/excursion for only $24 per person

We were on the October 11th sailing of the Sensation. We were met at the port by a clean cut man who offered to take us on a 2.5 hour tour of Nassau for only $24 per person. We agreed and we had to wait about 15 minutes while he got some more passengers for the tour.

It was worth the wait. He was a great tour guide. He took us to the Queen's Staircase, all over the island, and then to Atlantis. We were allowed to go into the lobby of the resort and to see the aquarium. We did not get to see the water park. The tour ended up being a little over 2.5 hours. I feel like we definitely got our money's worth.

He drove a very nice, large, newer model Chevy passenger van that was air-conditioned. I saw a lot of other tours being conducted in Toyota vans with all the windows down.

What excursion for kids in Nassau?

Does anyone have a good idea for an excursion in Nassau for two boys 11 and 8? We were in Nassau in July and we did a non-Carnival excursion at Dolphin Encounters called swimming with the Dolphins and that was excellent. Now we'd like to do something else. Has anoyone done any fishing? Or does anyone have another suggestion?

Hey everyone! I'm going on my first cruise Oct 18th to Nassau & Freeport. My friend told me not to miss Senor Frogs and the Straw Market while I'm in Nassau! Does anyone know how far from where the ship docks is to where these places are? This will be my first time in Nassau and I have no idea where anything is! From some of the research I've been doing they are both right near each other right? I thought about taking a cab, but how pricey is that and do they accept US Dollars? Last question I promise :-) I had seen a brief listing of hours for the straw market somewhere that said they were open from April to Oct 1. Has anyone been there past Oct 1 and had it still open? I don't wanna miss it!

Blackbeards Beach, Snorkel and Stingrays

My family and I went on this excursion this past December and were really dissapointed. The stingrays were kept in a cage and were mutilated by removing their stingers and (according to the guide) their teeth. The area they were in was really boring for snorkling as well.

The worst thing by far was the infestation of sand fleas on the beach. Everyone that went on the excursion was covered in flea bites and the guides didn't have any bug spray at all. We spent the next 4 days doing nothing but itching and there weren't really any drugs on board to help with it.

Carnival reimbursed everyone that was on the excursion the 30% that was carnivals.

Does any one know that if Credit card (AMEX, Master Card etc) is widely acceptable? Is there any fee associated by US banks or locals for using it over there? Or just cash only which is not safe to carry around.

Ok- I'm days down until our cruise now and I would just like any ideas on the best excursion for a few beautiful hours on a beautiful (kind of quiet) beach.......

We are sun-ladies (we know it's bad for us) - my daughter is only 18 and kind of laid back - I'm torn if I should do the party boat OR just go to Atlantis' beach or something- my top priority is a beautiful beach- my second priority is having at least an hour to sit on it- my third priority is FUN (i think we will have plenty of that on the ship) let me know your thoughts PLEASE!!!

Has anyone ever done the day pass at the British Colonial hotel? When I contacted the hotel they said the price was $40/person which includes beach access, pool, chairs, towels, and a $30 voucher for food and drink.,

i posted this in another spot, and realized this might be the best place to put it :D

dh and i are celebrating our anniversary with a cruise :D and are planning to do some light shopping in the morning at nassau, then hit a beach after lunch. on my last cruise, we went to cable beach (i *think*, it was right behind two or three hotels) but i have heard tell of cabbage beach, and it sounds wonderful.

is it still free? are there still drinks? can i still rent a chair? i found some threads a few months old, and wanted to know if anyone had been there recently and still loves it.

also, if anyone reading this is on the sensation 10/4 and wants to buddy up on a cab to port lucaya in freeport and/or hop on our possible cabbage beach adventure, chime in :D

How do I see Atlantis?

My family and I would like to go to Atlantis and do the Pyramid's water slide and swim. We also would like to be able to sit on the beach. We are sailing on Carnival Miracle, leaving June 9th and the excursions they offer are really expensive and offer more than what we want.

My question is, could we take a taxi(?) over to Atlantis and pay an admission fee for the slide and beach time? Are they in walking distance from each other? Any idea what the cost would be if we paid for it on our own, rather than booking an "excursion"? How far is Atlantis from the dock?

Any help would be appreciated!!!
