Mobile Port Parking

Hope someone can give me some answers. We are planning on cruising on the Elation in May of next year and driving to the port (which is a first for us) and I have heard many comments about the parking facility not being big enough for the bigger ships. Is this correct? Also heard that they were using the Convention Center for the "over flow" of cars, but also heard that their parking garage didn't really have any security there, so I just don't know what to do. Other than the Radisson hotel, does anyone know of hotels that offer some type of "park & cruise" package, as we will be coming down the day prior to our cruise and will need a hotel for the night. Any help would be appreciated!

I've only crusied once, on =X= with a singles group, but am noticing that the published rates are very cheap on the Holiday till she ships out next month. I'm looking at www.vacationstogo.com and wondering if there is any hickup to booking with them vs. other ways or direct from Carnival. I'm traveling solo unless I can find a roommate at the last minute. I did post a note over on cruisemates.com looking to share a room, but at these prices, even in the room alone it looks real inviting.

What is the difference in the Carnival Elation vs. The Carnival Fantasy? Has anyone heard if the Elation will undergo the waterworks package prior to moving to Mobile in May, 2010? Also, does anyone know why the Fantasy is moving to Mobile for just a short time, then on to Charleston?

Anyone going on the cruise from Mobile, Alabama on the Fantasy February 13-18? I am bringing my 8-year old and 62-year old mom...it's our birthday cruise...we are all born in Ferbuary. How's the Camp Carnival? Thinking of the Progresso Resort Beach Break and Isla Pasion by Twister excursions...anyone been on these with children?

Mobile, AL Holiday

I just returned from my 2nd fabulous cruise on the Holiday out of Mobile, AL. It was awesome. During this cruise, I heard a rumor that this would be the last year for the Holiday because Carnival has sold this ship. Is this true? If so, will another ship be assigned to the Mobile port? Mobile is so convenient for me, I would hate to hear this port would no longer be available.

Has any one been able to book the Carnival Special at the Hampton Inn Downtown for the night before the 11/10/09 Sailing of the Fantasy? i just spoke to the hotel and was told they were not offering the special for 11/9/09, just wondered if anybody else was told the same thing?

We are cruising next week.... YOO HOO! We are driving down Sunday and have booked the Hampton Inn for the night before and the Carnival package which allows parking at the hotel for cruise duration. At time of booking i was led to believe the hotel was just across the street, which I have now found out was not true as it is 3/4 mile away. Has anyone stayed here and utilized the Carnival package? I am starting to think I may be better off just parking at the terminal??? I am hoping to draw good information from you experience cruisers on what the best thing to do is. (or informed locals) Any suggestions and/or advise would be greatly appreciated.

We will be going on a cruise out of Mobile in April. I have been looking over the FAQ section for information along with other post in this forum. Does anyone know what the actual cost is to park your vehicle in the secured parking deck across from the pier in Mobile? We will be on a 5 day cruise and will have 2 vehicles to park. Also, can anyone tell me about the ship Holiday? Past experiences? Good and bad. Some friends went on a cruise on this same ship back in July. They were informed that the Holiday was on its last cruise at that time. Has this ship been redone? Is the ship a new Holiday or remodeled? Thanks for any info.

I have reservation at the Holiday Inn at Belligrath (?) Gardens, but was told by someone that it is quite a distance from the terminal. Thinking about changing to the LaQuinta Inn west of I-65. Could anyone give me any information. I would be driving to the dock to park in parking deck if I stay at LaQuinta.
