Getting dropped off...do you still pay for parking???

I have a couple of questions, which I can hopefully get some answers.

My sister is dropping us off to the long beach port, is there a seperate line for that, where would we go?? do we still pay for parking??

also, she will want to waive good by to us, since her daughter (my niece) is comming with us...in that case, does she have to park and can she walk us to the ship and wait till we go through the line and waive good by...

what have been your experiences??

any advice??

Transportation from L.A. to the pier in Long Beach!

Hello!

My friend and I are arriving a couple days early and staying in L.A. at a friend's house. Unfortunately, she can't take us to the port that morning. Does anyone know of any good transportation/shuttle services that would pick us up at a house and take us to the port? I've been looking online and I can find a ton of places that will take us from the airport, but we won't be there! Any advice is more than welcome!

Does anyone know of an easy way to board the Splendor out of Long Beach that does not involve standing in line for a long time or walking great distances, also is there an alternative to steps? Steps and my knee do not get along. Am going on the Splendor on 11/29/09.

On past cruises we have also had to use stairs for the Muster, by the time I were to get to where I should be everyone else would be gone!!! They would not let me use the elevator.

We are arriving a day early in LA before our Mexican Rivera cruise. We would love to see the sights of LA especially the movie stars' home, etc. Can you suggest a good company to go through to get a good tour and do we need to do it the day before or would we have time to do it on the morning that our cruise leaves.

HI everyone,

we'll be on the Mexican Riviera Cruise in Feb 2010. Our flight home afterward is scheduled to leave around 11:30am from LAX. Does that seem like enough time for us to get to LAX after leaving the ship? Does anyone know what time the ship gets into port? We'll most likely do the self dis-embark and carry our own luggage. I'm just worried that we're not leaving ourselves enough time to catch our flight. Also, which seems the best mode of transportation; taxi or shuttle?

i was reading differnt post here and there

found this blue van supper shuttle if you book early

17 bucks perty good i think since gas prices change everyday revservation are needed

the ride holds up to and they allow 2 bags each 7 people so i was told when booking

so they make 3 to 5 stops befor they get to the ship

no worrys the peir is 14 miles from the ship

embarkation time??

My husband thinks he wants to cruise on the Splendor out of LA next spring. I have been looking at airfare, and I can save about $350 if we fly into Ontario instead of LAX. Good idea??? Bad idea???

My biggest concern would then be transportation to the port, but I was thinking we could come in a day early and rent a car. But then my biggest concern would be driving in LA. I'm not afraid to drive in big cities, but LA seems so intimidating!!

Any thoughts.....comments....tales of woe?

This is our first cruise with Carnival and was wondering which hotel in the Long Beach area would be a nice and safe place to stay before our cruise. We would like to stay fairly close to the port. Some of the reviews on the travel sites were saying that some of the hotels are in kind of a seedy area of town. We have never been to the Long Beach area and would appreciate any help. We do not want to start our first cruise out on the wrong foot.

We were on the Splendor in May (and had a great trip until we disembarked). The port terminal escalators weren't working and so it took a long time for us to get off the ship. We had arranged for transportation back to LAX through Carnival transport. It was a disaster. The bus took an hour to load and since LAX requires check-in no later than one hour before flight departure, almost everyone on our bus missed their flights.

We had used a shuttle to get to Long Beach on the way there and it worked very well. Does anyone know if the shuttles are at the pier waiting to take you back to the airport when you disembark? I honestly didn't pay attention to that the last time we were there because we were in such a hurry and we were frazzled. Thanks.

We are going on a cruise in January and being from Colorado, we have witnessed flight delays and I talked to a lady that I work with that told me about the nightmare they went through to get to the ship when thier flight was delayed in the winter.....well she said planes, trains and automobiles..... We decided to take our flight the day before and book a hotel room just incase! hopefully any delays will be cleared up within that time frame. The cost of a hotel room is much better than missing some of your cruise and spending a lot of extra time, money and stress to catch up with the ship.

Parking for less?

Heading out on the Spendor late Sept and am finding that this is the first port where I am unable to locate longterm offsite parking for less than the $15 a day.

What a drag. San Diego was $6.75 a day with prepaid online, and had a shuttle.

Anyone have a lead on better parking. we're coming in from local, but a cab is still higher than the darn $15 a day! Same with a shuttle.

I want a bargain!!

1. What is the absolute latest I can board the boat? The cruise is set to depart at 5:30pm. I was told the latest is 4pm. However, according to this websites information on the embarking and boarding times, the latest I can board the ship is 1 hour before depature. So which one is it?

2. I dont have my birth certificate and I dont have a passport are there any other alternatives to use as proof. Such as Social Security Card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

My wife and I are set to leave on Friday for our 1 year anniversary!!!!

Issues that are hindering us from going are just popping up everywhere!
