Shopping on a Thanksgiving Cruise

We are about to leave on our first Thanksgiving cruise and were wondering if Carnival has any "after-Thanksgiving" specials onboard. Has anyone been on a Thanksgiving cruise and happen to know? Are there any special items?

Does anyone know how I can get a carnival coupon book? The book has like 18 coupons in it. A few are buy 3 bottles of wine get 1 free and pay for 1 tournament get 1 free. I know travel agents have them but the people I booked thru dont have them. I am desperate i leave in 3 1/2 weeks.

Tanzanite Stores in Cozumel

I have heard of some awful things about some of the jewelry stores in Cozumel. People saying that they buy a stone and have them set it but when they pick up the stone they don't look at it and when they got home it was not the same quality and it was broken. Has anyone had a problem buying stones or jewelry in Cozumel or any of the ports in Western Caribbean?

Beware buying watches or other items on board ship! They lie!

I bought a Tissot watch on our cruse that ended Oct 15 to Nassau and Freeport on board Carnival Sensation. There are signs all over that say that they guarantee the best price and the reciept says "Never Undersold". I paid $278 plus change for it. Once we got back to shore and could look it up on Amazon.com the exact model was selling for $189.00. I called Carnival and was told that they don't run the shops on board. (even though they wear carnival uniforms and the reciept says Carnival Sensation) The receipt has no phone number so you have to call Carnival to get the phone number to Starboard Cruise. When you call that number they direct you to a website at Starboardcruise.com/customer.htm. This site says they will "guarantee to match the price on any identical item...." and at the very end it says "(Internet pricing excluded from price guarantee)"

I called and finally got a person and like it says they will not do anything about it. I asked why their reciept didn't state this "no Internet" policy, and was told most reciepts are too small to have things like that printed on them and if I checked the signs on board they "probably" mentioned the internet exclusion on them. Hmmmmm guess I need to pay for another cruse to check that one out!

I also called Carnival and was told that they couldn't do anything about it. I explained my displeasure at finding out I was buying from someone other than Carnival when by all apearances(uniforms, reciepts, etc) you are buying from Carnival. No mention of another company is made at the store. I feel this is a very deceptive business practice.

As I told the representative this entire episode left a bad taste in my mouth for Carnival and I will look to other cruise lines in the future even though I enjoyed the cruise.

The old statement of let the buyer beware holds true with Carnival....and You can burn me once but not twice will be my policy with them.

Upset in Illinois and avoiding Carnival!

HELP! NEED PORTHOLE PICTURE FRAME

Aboard any of the Carnival ships is a picture frame I am desperatley looking for. It's shaped like a porthole, 12" in diameter and is a blue green color. On the bottom is the name Carnival.

I bought one of these aboard the Carnival Freedom and I've been told they sell these on any of the ships. The problem is you have to be ON a cruise to buy these! They cannot or won't sell me any over the phone..... jeez........how do you say Great Customer Service??????????????

So I asked if they could supply me with the manufacturers name and I'll google them and see if I can buy directly from them. Well, they took a ton of info, but I don't hold out much hope of hearing anything.....

So.........what's a gal to do? My husband and I were married on the Destiny and have since taken 5 cruises. What I wanted to do was have a whole wall full of these Porthole frames (6 actually ;-) that show of picture of me and hubby on each of our cruises and I'd really like them to be in this very cool Carnival Porthole Picture Frame.

Would make our family room wall look sort of like the side of a ship!

CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE? My last resort is to find some sweet soul going on a cruise real soon, who wouldn't mind getting me 5 of these frames and having them sent to me. Of course, I'd be paying for the cost, the shipping, etc., and I'll even throw in little extra cash, for you doing this for me!

We won't be going on another cruise until Sept of 2010 and I really didn't want to wait that long (fear of them not making these frames anymore)....

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME?????

I would love to bring home a remembrance of my cruise and was wondering if I do as well onboard the Carnival Miracle as I would if I bought on Amazon.com? I have 2 possible watches in mind and their prices are far different. There is a Tag Heuer I've seen that is probably too pricey or a Tissot Sports watch that is much more sensibly priced. I'd like it as an every day watch and a remembrance of my vacation/anniversary. Our anniversary is the day of departure. Of course I will be buying my wife something nice as well. I always do !!!

Hi there-

I bought a super cute bling ring- off a freestanding stand where the jewelry was stuck to cards- the ring was about ten dollars- i love that ring so much i have already turned it colors- and i would like to buy one or two more to replace it. Is this possible?? It is a silver ring in color- quite wide with a heart on the top, the band is made of small silver toned beads and the heart is quite large on the top and is full of tiny rhinestones.

I''ve been unable to purchase gifts. It won't recognize the shopping cart. It keeps saying it's 'empty', and I need to check my cookies. I've done that, have ordered from other sites during this time frame, checked everything, etc. etc.

I'll call them on a land line Monday, so it's no harm, no foul so far. Anybody else had difficulty using this feature? I've used it before with no problem. And it's not on a particular item, I'm purchasing a few different things.

I'm one of those people who love to shop in thier pajamas when ever I feel like it!

I am going on my first cruise in 21 Days! I looked on line and I see that there is a Gucci store in the Bahamas. Has anyone been there before and is it in walking distance from the pier? If not I can take a cab but I did want to go to the store. Also I heard that Nassau has some great Rum Cake. Is this something that maybe I can bring back to my mom pre packaged or just sold by the slice. Thanks

Buyers Beware About Port Shopping

We were recently on a Carnival Cruise 4/6/09 thru 4/14/09 ship "Miracle". I took the time to listen to their Shopping Experts advice, and he (Neil C.) spoke of a guarantee about shopping in select stores that were reputable and offered a guarantee, so you could shop with complete peace of mind. What Neil did not share, is the guarantee is for exchange or repair only, (not so good now), not for full refunds when you come home and find out you have been CHEATED and MISLEAD . Neil claimed to be an expert and we fell for his jargon,hook, line and sinker, In Belize at Diamonds Int'l Neil promised his help in selecting both diamonds and other stones, for quality and good value. We put our trust in him and it was a BIG MISTAKE. I upgraded my wedding ring from a .40 marquise cut to a .71 radiant cut stone. The work was done while we lunched at a little charming bar & grill. When we returned for my ring they had made my ring 3 sizes too big, whoops someone else's ring was too small. My stone and ring were sized now and we got back on the ship. I was so happy & proud of my new upgrade, until we got home to the states and I had 2 jewerlers, check it out. Both agreed it was the poorest workmanship they had seen. The prongs were not set correctly, gaps between the stone and prongs, tool marks, and the stone was so loose I could of easily lost it. I had to put it away. So I would not recommend Port purchases, once we leave the Port they have our money and we have their inferior work and bad value. Beware of shopping experts named Neil C. he probably gets a decent fee for all the victims he leads in to their web of deceit. The company P.P.I is not much help since it's exchange or repair only. My option is to send my defective ring to Diamond Int'l NY office. They already have my original stone, my $3372.00 dollars and do you think I will trust them to fix my ring, I DON'T THINK SO. They hold all the cards, so again BUYERS BEWARE !! Also beware of a good looking English guy named Neil with a smile and charm as big as any ship in Carnival's Fleet. He will tell you anything to get you to buy.!!

We'll be cruising on the Dream next year to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Routan and Belize.

Does anyone have any suggestions for purchasing nice silver pieces. Are prices for silver versus gold/gemstones, etc. BETTER in the Western Caribbean as opposed to say, St. Thomas etc. in the East?

I know to stick with recommended stores. Just wondering how the prices compare in those places.

Registering Port Purchases for the Guarantee after Cruise End

I have the opposite question for disembarking... I do NOT have to rush off the ship because our port is NYC and I live in NJ and have a ride home from a relative. Do they take the passengers that have to catch flights off the ship first? What time should I tell my ride to be there?? HELP!
