The tour guide suggested the rear upper deck. Our ride was choppy enough that the crew was handing out barf bags and for some reason they didn't look to have the A/C on, which normally helps; there were a lot of "green" people but no one actually got sick. The return trip was better, but still a bit unco mfortable. I'd take my favorite motion sickness meds the day before, layoff greasy breakfast items and maybe carry some cracker-like snacks. After 15 or 20 minutes of driving, The motorcoach stops at a rest stop where you can buy some snacks - that's about ALL I'd purchase there.

Re: ferrry from cozumel (tulum)

sounds horrible!! is there room to stand outside? i always feel better if i'm out in the open air. had you or your wife taken anything for sea sickness? tks!

Re: ferrry from cozumel (tulum)

I took the excursion in april 2008 on the Freedom....The tour boat had a big window that was broken on departure, they had 4-5 deck hands holding a piece of plywood against the window to stop the water from getting in....they did this for almost an hour, some people did get WET. I would say that the boat held a few hundred passengers. I would guess that 70 % of the people on board got SICK, I was on the verge....my wife left some of her DNA on the boat...the waters were very very rough. The boat should not have left the dock to go to Tulum...Even boarding the boat was a problem, they had to move it from one side of dock to another side. When i reached Tulum I asked to be taken back to the Freedom, they had a boat going back near the Freedom, so we endured another rough ride back. At the pursers desk i asked for a refund of my tour price and the taxi fare... They granted it...It really was a ROUGH sea that day....

ferrry from cozumel (tulum)

we're planning on doing the tulum excursion from the legend in november. i've read some experiences or warnings of rough waters on it. how rough can it get? i'm a little nervous cause i get seasick. should i ingest a bunch of medicine before going? tks!
