I agree, but if like you say,. if you arn't sure of the weather, I'd rather take my chances than pre-pay for an excursion and wish you hadn't when it's too cool to really want to swim. They sure don't give refunds for cool weather.

Re: Nassau advice

thanks alot. my husband and i will gamble, but daughter, her husband and two kids (age 5 & 8) want to do the beach. we are worried now that it will be too cool (december cruise) we have done lots of winter cruise's but always to mexico. the hilton sounded like the best deal, but now that they have raised the price...not so sure. the free beach sounds sorta ??? but even the pay beaches, could have stealing, etc. but it keeps the low life off. sorta pricey for a 5 yr old... like he could drink/eat 30.00 worth of food. all in all it is still cheaper than atlantis beach, hopefully it will be as nice. the atlantis water park deal is too expensive for the time allowed.

Then she found out a regular taxi car would have taken her right to beach for less money. Just need to ask taxi driver to take you to free beach next to atlantis. As far as watching belongings, that you must do. My friend found a family there who had a woman not swimming and she asked her to watch her things, the lady said she was the 2nd one to ask her that. I don't know if it was someone off our ship or not. When you come off the pier, there is a long building you need to walk through to get to the street, inside there is an information desk where she found out about the beach. I hope this helps.

They found out it's been raised to $40.00 per person. no smaller amount for our 5 year old. That gets you a 30 dollar food/beverage credit. So it's only 10 for the beach. Which wasn't so nice anyway. Half our group took a water taxi to Atlantis and walked to the free beach next door, the rest of us stayed on the ship and laid out at the pool.

I looked at the Sheraton, the Hilton, and Cabbage Beach. While Cabbage beach sounded nice, I wanted to swim and they warned that the water is a little rough and there's a pretty good drop off a little ways out. Sheraton was $40 for the pass, and the BCH was $20. We also looked at an excursion on Carnival for the all-inclusive resort on the island that was 5hrs long, and it included all food, drinks, and facilities. I also found out that you can get that same pass through the resort for only $50 and you get like 8hrs instead of 5, and it's cheaper than through Carnival.

We ended up going to the BCH. You just walk in, ask about a day pass, and it was $20 to use their private beach and pool. They give you towels, and there's a little stand to the side that rents snorkel gear for $5. FYI, their bar drinks are pricey though. I got a can of a local beer (Kalik) that cost $5. At least it was good beer. :D

Re: Nassau advice

cruisemom:
