This is my first posting on this board. My family will be on the Fascination June27- July3. I have cruised before (20 years) ago!! on the Seaward, but have not found out anything about church held on the ship. Back then it was in one of the lounges (intersting with little table lights and velvet chairs!)

I was wondering where on the Fascination mass was said(if?) and what the dress style was that people wore. I realize that it is a ship, but it is mass . I am sure there was everything from bathing suits with covers to full sport coats (just like summer resorts everywhere, I guess!)

Any thoughts wuld be helpfull. Thanks

Ps Another question on the dress, if it is onle 5 nights, is there really a formal night or just a dressy casual night?

ROLL CALL~FEB.25,2010 FACINATION

There is 4 of us girls going on this cruise. The first trip was to Nassau and Half Moon Cay, and this time we visited Key West and Nassau. In Key west we took the trolley tour which was really fun although it sure was HOT! Our guide, Steve, told us that we could see all sorts of strange things, as it was Fantasy Fest there. He was right, there sure are some Strange folks out there! There were a lot of "normal' things to see and we had a good time. The shopping was great! In Nassau we just walked around, shopping as when we were there in Jan. we hooked up with a tour guide, Perry McPhee, that spent the whole day with us and showed us everything we wanted to see. There were 8 of us then and the price was very reasonable. We went to the gardens, Atlantis, and he even gave us a demonstration on cleaning and cooking conch fritters! Tastey!! This time there was only 4 of us, so we just "Bummed" around. The Fascination was a lot of Fun! The staff really goes out of their way to make everything "MO BETTER". Our cabin steward, Sudi, [I suspect he lives under the bed, as every time we left the room it was cleaned and a new "Animal" appeared] was really Super! Our wait staff, Arwin, Charlestone, and Johnny, besides being very good at their jobs, allways spoke to us and called us by name, where ever we were on the ship! Our Matre'De, Mr. K, helped us by allowing us to change dinner times when we had a conflict because of my being in the talent show and having the Halloween costume parade at the late dining time. The other cruise, the Matre'De, didn't do, didn't care, and also didn't get tipped! Our cruise director, Filipe, is a pure NUT! He made everything Fun! We tried to do everything on the ship and I think we came close, don't just sit there, Go and Do! Filipe's assistant, Shellie, was such a help with the talent show and a joy to be around. From Sonja the barista in Bogarts coffee bar, to the Captain, all of the crew were very pleasant to be around, and acted like they appreciated us being there. The only down side to the whole trip was that the air conditioner in our cabin didn't work as well as it should have, and we had some engine noise, as we were on Riviera deck, aft. That probably had something to do with the air also, but the noise wasn't bad, and as the trip went on, it was kinda' soothing! Also on the last couple of days, some of the passengers got ruder,[more rude, more agravating, pain-in-da-butt] know what I mean? We had a Great Time, and I only gained 10 lbs! Can't wait to do it again, next year!

Roll call for Fascination-Thanksgiving week(11/23-11/28)

This our first cruise and we are looking forward to a great week. There are multiple families travelling with us. I have a family of four, my wife and I are both in our 40's and we have 2 daughters, one is 15 and in 10th grade and the youngest is 10 and in 5th grade. My parents are also going; they are both retired. My wife's sister and her family and my wife's brother and his family are going as well. My sister-in-law and her husband have no children of their own but they travel alot with the special needs child they keep full-time. They are the only experienced cruisers among us. My brother-in-law and his wife have a 5-year-old daughter with plenty of energy. She is in Kindergarten this year. I would love to hear from anyone else who will be on this cruise. I know my daughters would too.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Very nice room (non smoking hotel) It was great being so close to the port. We were on the ship in no time at all. The ship, crew, food and weather was perfect. We were on the upper deck ocean view room. We went to Key West and Nassau. We took a pedcab ride. "Robert" our driver gave us an outstanding tour of Key West. We took another tour in Nassau including Atlantis. Amazing!! We went to the Queen's staircase, saw the sights and did alot of shopping. Our tour in Nassau was not with Carnval so for $50.00 we got a 2 hour plus tour, It was well worth it!! One good thing about the cruise port in Jacksonville was being so close to St. Augustine and touring the oldest city. Carnival is such a good cruise line. For a first time cruiser-read up on where you are going. check carnival connections for updates and other cruisers comments.
Thanks!

Fascination New Years Eve 12/31/09

Me and my boyfriend are going on our 1st cruise this year for New Years eve! Just wondering if anyone has ever been on a new year's cruise that actually set sail on december 31 like this one is, and just wondering how it works with leaving new years eve night and all. We are very excited, if anyone has some feedback on this cruise or knows the events taking place let me know!

Fascination Halloween Review!

Just thought I would give everyone an update on my cruise on the Fascination, that left 10/31/09 (Halloween) from Jacksonville Fla.

We stayed at Travelodge, in Jacksonville, the night before our cruise! Was a great price and the accomodations were really good for what we paid! We met several other cruisers at Chili's right down the road from the hotel that Friday before the cruise! It was a lot of fun to meet them ahead of time!

We dropped off most of our luggage, except for Carry on bag! We got to the parking lot at the port about 11:15 AM. We got onboard the ship by noon! Embarkation was a breeze! We could not get into our rooms until about 1:30 PM. We went to the lido deck and ate! Just had a burger and fries! The burger was good although the fries were not as hot as I would like they were still decent! After we ate I went and checked on our room, about 1:00 PM, there was still a lot of work going on down there! Since I had meds and other stuff, I decided to wait until I could put my stuff in my locked room! So took it back to the Lido deck for another 30 minutes! We went down at exactly 1:30PM and the rooms were ready! Locked our stuff up and went and looked around the ship! We had been on the Fascination before so we knew the ship pretty well! But got reaquainted with it!

Sail Away was Great! I have never left from Jacksonville before! It was our first time going under a bridge! That was a blast! Not to mention meeting several people from the Cruise Critic roll call for sail away!

Since it was Halloween, we had brought costumes! So before dinner we went to cabin and changed into them! Went up on the deck and had pictures taken! Most of them came out great, not just the Halloween ones but the whole cruise! The food in the dining room was really good! Although we only ate there twice on this cruise! The Captains night of course as my wife had to have the Lobster, and I had to have the Prime Rib! Both were great!

We did not enter the costume contest, we really didn't go all out on the costumes! Dressing up was fun though! We went to a couple of clubs, and checked out the bands and the Karoke, and of coures all the other costumes! I definatly would like to do another Halloween Cruise!

The food on the Buffet was great! The entertainment on the ship was also very good! I did not get to see the comedian though as I found other things I wanted to do at the same time!

Our Room Steward was great, he got us everything we needed right away! Our room was always ready for us! Thats saying something since we came in and out, all times of the day!

Our Waiter was also great although they seem like they were very overworked! But got us our food to us in a decent time, with as busy as they seemed! As I said we only ate in there twice to do other things we wanted to do at the time!

So the Ship was in great shape! The Service was Excellent!

Our Ports of Call,

Half Moon Cay, was a great stop! The beach there may be the most, Impressive I have seen! We didn't do anything there, except swim and lay on beach! It was Great!

Nassau, we had an excursion to ride around town with about 30 other Cruise Critic folks! we went to all the major tourist attractions! The Queens Staircase, Fort Charlotte, and Fort Fincastle! Had a chance to shop at these spots if we wanted! Also got to go to Atlantis! We just got to walk around and look at it, we didn't have long but could have stayed and been picked up later if we had wanted! We went to the beach from there! By this time we were all tired out and opted out of going to the beach there and went back to the ship!

Debarkation was a breeze! Customs was simple, and getting off the ship and out of the parking lot was easier than I have ever done!!

Over All our cruise was great would do it again when I get the chance!
The Facination is a great ship and the Captain and the Matr'e D are very acessable! The entire crew is exceptional! I definatly would recomend this cruise!

Happy Cruising All!

Atlantis--

Has anyone else ever been?
