From the pics I got from the dock looking up it looks like there is a overhang for the Lido Deck so that I don't think anyone can look down from above.

we just got back from the 6-13 cruise and stayed in suite 8150 There is no awning but they are designed in a way that gives you great privacy. Noone will be able to see you, unless the cabin next door wants to hang their head outside the railing and lean over. All in all ,our balcony was totally private and awsome. Ill never cruise without a balcony.

Kurt... did you have any noise problems being under the Lido? I have read some posts that say definitely noisy and some that say not an issue (neither, if memory serves, mentioned the Pride). Just wondering since you sailed so recently. Thanks much!

Some balconies have better privacy than others. Here's on on the Spa deck of the Splendor:

What you see in the bottom half of the picture is the awning that blocks some of the view from the Serenity deck above, followed by the chairs which are pushed aginst the back wall, and of course the railing. The GF got a little upset at me because she thought I was being an exhibitionist when I was out there. Mind you, I did have to strecth a bit to get that shot... and yes, I was absolutely certain it was my balcony!

The lower balconies had a lot better privacy, except if you walked all the way forward and looked at the side of the ship from atop the docking wings...

Those rails at the top without the apparent overhang are the Spa deck balconies...

I don't know if they can see you from above, but the dividers between the balconies do have some space between them and the next cabin. Sometimes reflections can be seen in the glass doors as well.

I was doing a little private sunbathing on my balcony and I heard giggles from next door. It was the neighbor's 12 - 14 year old boy. I guess he got a show, and was doing his best to spy, but it did put me on alert that you can be seen.

Keep in mind that when in port, if you are on dockside, you will be on display. The ship docks early, so if you leave the curtain open for the night view, you might have an audience.

I like to have the sun come up and fill the room, so I figure if someone has telescopes, or whatever, they can have their show and I could care less. I guess I would feel differently if I was some celebrity and they were taking pictures with those telephoto lenses to put in a magazine or something.

Peeping toms are everywhere. It is a shame that some people are that way. I have had people peer around the balcony dividers and they usually go away when you say something like can I help you. You can also report them to security.

I have actually seen some people in high rises with telescopes to allow them to look in other apartments across from them. I have also seen folks on ships across from ours with binocuolrs (SP) trying to look in windows and balconys.

I think the only thing you might be concerned about is waking up in a port and having another ships docked right next to you. You might want to close your curtains. We have had this happen and I was quite shocked because when we went to bed we were in the middle of the Caribbean. I can't see any way possible for someone on your ship windowpeeking.

on most cruise ships you can look down and see the balcony below.

Just be carful that you don't fall overboard. Only the aft balconies are really viewable from above. but there are a lot of folks that are peeping toms that lean over and risk falling off.

It is not a problem from above. Maybe from next store it they really want to look around the divider but then if they see something they shouldn't that is there problem for trying to be a peeping tom.

We weren't on the Panorama deck, however I think they are all very similar in that they do have an overhang or ceiling above. Looking over the side of the ship from the top decks, I don't recall seeing anyone's balcony area... Have fun!
